It really does do wonders. I play around with the range knobs, filter freq + resonance, the gate, etc. I can find a lot of different sounds. I have also run CV from my modular into the pedal for FUN while running my drum machine through it. I actually keep everything on their own mixer channels, drum machine has 2 channels and send those through the pedal via aux. I can make the pedals feedback loops as well for extra fun...

Sherman FILTERBANK!!!!
While digital, I had some fun with the Adrenalinn, as it was stereo, and the effects could sync to the drum machine midi. You can find em used cheap. I have also had good luck with an eventide mod factor, for similar reasons. Bonkers effect, but stereo and sync able modulation is pretty potent…
But filterbank if you want to get all nasty nasty...

Re: Drum Machines and Pedals
Someone said compressors, and nailed it. High quality ones, shitty ones....whatever. They make shit more interesting.
Recently I've been running (the following pedals) in a mixer's effects loops, for use with an MPC60 and S950:
Dr Scientist BitQuest, RRR, The Elements
LAL Misty Cave
EHX DMM
Frostwave Resonator
Great on one shots or breaks. And weird samples, especially after using the 950's timestretch

I'll try to post clips of the franta with a drum machine. It's fucking killer dude!

Re: Drum Machines and Pedals
empress is an amazingly great compressor in pedal form. super great for drums or for getting some sidechain action going w/ your drum machine + something else.
i remember back in the day i used to run a lot of devi fuzzes w/ my drum machines. OK, TBD were 2 that i remember being really awesome.
oscillating fuzzes are awesome too

Re: Drum Machines and Pedals
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm kicking myself for getting rid of my bass compressor now...
Definitely looking into the trogotronic stuff and the TAFM now. When we record the next album in January I'm gonna experiment with the Geiger counter the engineer has, too. Do you guys think the rusty box or a Sansamp bass DI would work?

Re: Drum Machines and Pedals
Probably! You could eq them how you like and add plenty of grit. Plus the boost would be good live if you wanted to blast the drums for a loud break.WeHuntKings wrote:Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm kicking myself for getting rid of my bass compressor now...

Rusty boxes sound great with drum machines through them although I find they cut a little bit of bass.
I love the sound of old drum machines into old digital reverbs. Especially the gated reverb on the boss RV2. A kickdrum pad through an octave fuzz like a blue box or buzz box is mental too. Instant blown out 808 from hell sound.

Re: Drum Machines and Pedals
I honestly like my Sansamp Classic more for drum machine than electric guitar. Thanks for reminding me to use it as such.

Re: Drum Machines and Pedals
I played around with the old Red Panda Tonecore Module and a drum machine - the results were pretty wonderfully mind-bending.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.
