Laney AOR ProTube 100MV 6 knob job. Price was so low I had to look twice, with the back panel and end caps of the knobs missing it became a bloodied horse head at the end of the mattress. So in the dark hours of Sunday night I just had to drive into the Bronx to an unmarked unnumbered unlit house to buy an amp that I didn't need didn't entirely have room for and didn't get to try out in advance.

Oh holy fuck yes it was worth it.

For less than the price of any non-MIC marshall-in-a-box, I've now got the sounds of the entire Dischord canon in my back bedroom. The amp has transformers larger the national debt. The bass boost is going to level Mount Rushmore and give the Dakotas back to its rightful heirs. The midboost should painted on black velvet. Fuck this "it's too loud at 1 boo hoo" nonsense, with the MV at fucking 0 it's loud enough to be usable round the house. The headshell is nearly as large as the first room I rented in brklyn in the prior century.

I was gonna flip, just plug it in to see if it works, but I can't, it's too fucking awesome. It may, heavens forfend Canadian satan strike me down, be more awesomerest than my Traynor.

Unless the wife says sumthin', it's not going anywhere soon.

What do these usual go for, $300-450? At the price, if you're looking for an amp and like the sound, it's totally worth it. In the $200-$300 range, it's a good deal. When you can get one for less than, say, a Catalinbread dirt pedal, it's lie cheat steal kill do whatever it takes... So I did.

This afternoon I'll be running my Boss OC-2 and Zoom Tri-Metal thru the Laney. Should northern Manhattan crumble into dust while the rest of the isle floats away, forever to be lost at sea... well, my bad.

Probably won't happen until after the new year, but definitely going to consider a new headshell. If I can do it more or less myself on the cheap, it's a must do. As much as a like the crucifix of amps, I'd rather have it be a bit less unruly - and a new shell would cut down on weight, etc.
