delay advice

So im trying to get started making my own music (long story short, im a drummer with practically nobody to jam with that lives closer than a hour from me) and I'm wanting to pick up a good delay. I already have a Behringer DD400 so I'm looking for something different. I want my sound to incorporate my drums a little bit, but I also want to be able to visit outerspace a good bit during my sets and stuff, so a pedal that'll let me fuck shit up while not sounding like butt would be preferable. My friend let me borrow a carbon copy jawn for a week or two and I liked it a good bit, but after a while I felt like I had exhausted its capabilities. (I didn't have my drums when I was testing it, so maybe I'm not giving it enough credit.) What all do you guys suggest?

Boss DD-x either 6, 7, 20 I have a DD-6. it's pretty versatile.

Malekko 616. Nice analogue Delay, has modulation that allows for crazy warbles with the osc.

Electro Harmonix Memory Boy/Man series of pedals.

I was looking at the 616 and I might be able to get a Memory Boy fairly cheap, so those are definitely in consideration. My friend used to have a DD-6 that I'd mess around with a little, and I liked it, but my DD400 is like a cheaper version of that pedal, so I'd probably look for something else.

As far as all the other stuff like tone and stuff, I really don't know exactly what I'm looking for. That was sort of the reason for making this thread. I know there's a whole bunch of stuff out there I've never even heard of, so I figured I'd let you all tell me about them hahaha

I'm really liking my memory boy. Then again, it's the first delay I've owned. I like having the modulation effects, but I usually just use a pretty discrete sine wave vibrato. I love the square wave for freakouts.

wish i had the money for that dmm, thing looks sweet as hell. so has anyone ever had any trouble with the memory boy at all? i thought i saw a thread on here about that but it looked to be more of a made in china argument instead.

Very much so.

The DMM is a DMM. It's magic.
The skrecho is for playing in teh soup, and it's the closest you'll come to a tape echo without buying the real thing.
The e600d is just a wonderfully warm delay that fattens out my sound and does weird spaceship sounds when I want to create havoc.

I'm still getting the hang of the M9, though I found a really cool multihead setting with a really short delay time that I've just about been using constantly (I feel like Bobby D)

i like the sound of that skrecho a lot, dont really think i can afford it though. i might just get a memory boy then, it seems so far to be the best overall for what i think i wanna do haha. i dunno though, if theres more out there that are under $200, id love to hear about them. thanks for all the help so far

sib mr echo and mr echo plus are pretty cool analog delays (and hasnt been mentioned). dark repeats. slam button is wicked for crazy noise manipulations

There are a plethora of sub-$200 delays out there, but the DMM is probably one of the better ones out there. If you want classic analog delay sound, go for a used DMM since you can usually find them under $200. The Malekko 616 is a good contender too, with a huge range of modulation as well as good feedback sounds (those outerspace noises you like so much). Then again, I saved up for an Empress Superdelay when I was first looking at pedals because I heard it and loved the sounds it could make. It's easier to get one now since the used market has them for about $350-$400. If you're lucky you might be able to snag one for $300.

oh ya n +1 on the DMM...dont know how many times i've thought i could replace it with another delay and to fail miserably...the DMM is amazingggggggggg

I'm a pretty big fan of my DD-7, although I would love to grab hold of one of those Deluxe Memory Boy when I can... also obviously I'd love to get a superdelay, haha... I haven't ever seen one for anything around/lower than 300 though and don't expect to X3
