What's my fascination with..............
What's my fascination with Brian May?
I'm NOT a huge fan of Queen. I like Brian May's tone and style.
I twice owned the Vox AC30BM combo....which was cool. Great tone, but fuckin' loud as hell.
I'm not a low headroom single channel amp guy....so I parted with them.
Now, I have a Burns Brian May Signature (red special) incoming.
The specs are what got me (and a trade deal miraculously appeared that I couldn't resist).
3 high output singles, various switches for a lot of combinations, 24" scale, 24 frets, wide neck.
Just thought it was strange that Brian May gear always seems attractive to me, even though I don't particularly care for Queen.
Ya'll have any weird gear attractions that you can't really explain?

Yeah, I'm pretty excited. Should have it monday.
I'll definitely post up some pics and a review.
Be interesting how it'll handle the type of music the band plays (heavier space rock).
Being a Jazzmaster fan, I do wish the Burns model had the true Red Special bridge and trem.
The Strat style bridge is fine though.

Oh you are going to be THRILLED! I've got the next best thing, a Burns Bison which has the same TriSonic pickups. The Bison is the first guitar I've owned that I'd like to have a spare of.

Maybe you're similar to him as a person, or think in a similar way? Wait, how do I know you're not actually Brian May?

If I were Brian May....I wouldn't need a red special.
Got it today....well, about a hour ago.
It needs a set up...buzzy low E.
..but playable.
First impression is that it's a great guitar.
Love the wide and somewhat chunky neck. It's really up my alley.
The trisonics are really good.
Much fatter than a strat.
The switches are nice to have for various tones.....either neck/ bridge pickups together or the honky out of phase stuff.
I'll have to play it more and try it with the band and report back.
I'll post some pics tomorrow.

I just assume people who say they don't like Queen are lying.

It's hard to hate Queen, but a good portion of their catalog just isn't my thing.
Like I said. Hate musicals, or music that sounds like musicals. that style irritates my earballz more than songs with island beats.
Hard to deny that Queen is great. They are legendary.
Hard to explain my fascination with Brian May's gear. Deep seeded tone preference from when I was 10, listening to Queen's Greatest Hits??
