Sunn Sonaro problem

Post by slurryspoon »

Hey I have a Sunn sonaro I've been using with guitar for some time now. Great amp but not entirely consistent despite that it was recently serviced. That being said I push it pretty hard sometimes. Anyways today while jamming it started basically what sounded like it was gating itself.... if I didn't pick hard enough the amp would not engage, this happened through my board and directly into the amp....

Kinda hoping it just solves itself.... I also happen to have good amp tech connection i can take her too, but was hoping someone might know what was causing this as not only am I entrigued but just really bummed that my favourite amp isn't at its best.

Thanks!

Did you swap cables/guitar to eliminate the amp from the equation?

Contact cleaner in the socket (when off) to hopefully minimize corrosion?

My pedalboard costs approximately 191 Metal Zones.

I didn't have the chance to swap gtrs or my main lead... But I'll try that next time I use the amp (it lives at a friend's place right now).

Didn't have any contact cleaner but I don't think that will necessarily solve the problem I tried it in both inputs and the same thing
occurred.

I'll let you know when Ive fully determined its not my gtr or cable.
