I'm not in the mood to create a new thread, so I'm going to use this one. I've had a Randy's Revenge on my big board for ages, and, as per my usual habit for ring mods, I mostly use them for tremolo and occasional noise freakouts. Good times with that little dude! That isn't what I'm bumping the thread for. Just thought I would say that. And now I have. So I can move on to my point:

I picked up a Meet Maude a few weeks ago, and I'm conflicted. I use it on bass because that's what I do. It is EXCELLENT for weird noise and general ambience stuff. Brought it to doom/pop rehearsal the first night I had it, and for bizarro passages it was really fucking cool.

But. :omg:

I normally use delay for more normally acceptable things. I guess delay is okay on bass nowadays? I don't know/care, but seems more common than it did 10 years ago. Then again Pink Floyd did it in the '60s so maybe I'm just nutso, aside from moving beyond the point (again!). Either way, I use a lot of delay, but for general spacey type things. I have a pair of Malekko Dark 600 delays and an Analog.man ARDX20, all three of which I adore.

My real question is, have any of y'all found solid regular usage out of said Maude? I'm tempted to keep it for a Noise Only pedal, but at the same time, it won't make regular rotations if that is its sole intention.

Actually, just typing this mess out has answered my own question. I shall keep the gal, and use it in good health! :joy:

Hell yes to delay on bass
Also reverb on bass
All effects on bass

Meet Maude seems rad
All the Fairfield stuff seems amazing and really thoughtfully designed

It is the best delay I've played. I've got it set for moderate delay time, moderate feedback, light modulation. Expression for feedback, ride the feedback for the freak out sections. I Think it's great at both subtle normal and whacked out stuff.

Nice delay, would be better if you didn't have to open it up and adjust the dip switches back to standard if you don't plan on using the expression jack but have it set up to do so.

I can get more "normal" analog delay sounds out of it, but that's on guitar so maybe it's easier to hear with the higher frequencies since it's such a darkish delay. My favorite setting otherwise is to have the delay time almost all the way down, the mix all the way up, and the modulation set on high. Gets such an awesome warbly sound that way.
I get what you mean, though. I also keep a digital delay on my board for longer delay times.

I'm rude as fuck and didn't thank y'all for the help! :omg: It is much appreciated, and I meant no offense by subsequently ignoring this thread for weeks.

Unfortunately it didn't work out between Maude and myself, I think my wife was secretly a little jealous of me stepping on another woman in the house.

I still proudly rock out with Randy and his magnificent scheming Revenge, that bastard replaced my Blue Ringer on my big board years ago, quite a feat!
