Re: The Foo Fighters
I like a lot of the stuff from the first couple of FF albums, a few other songs from their other albums are alright, but mostly not my thing. Most of it is just radio rock that isn't bad, isn't particularly great, but is ok for some background noise when it comes on the radio when I'm going somewhere.

Re: The Foo Fighters
Just saw a couple episodes of Sonic Highway, which were really good. Mostly a ton of background on the LA and desert scene. I wish I could have experienced some of that first hand.
Admittedly, I'm not a big Foo Fighters fan. To me their music has always just been alright; nothing bad, but nothing particularly good either
After reading this thread through I might give their first album a chance, not sure I've ever really listened to it.
I do really like Dave Grohl though. Everything he stands for in music is wicked; all the underground stuff and preserving old music and history
And everything he does is pretty awesome too; Radio City was great, Sonic Highways has been great, his drumming is amazing

just read this, there's probably some truth in there, although I have absolutely nothing against dave grohl. He seems like a stand up guy

I kind of like the foo fighters, although I haven't really paid attention to them since one by one I think, and even then I only knew the radio hits. I heard the new song on the radio recently, I kinda dug it but forgot about it almost instantly.
Everlong still is the perfect song to jam around the campfire with some friends though.

I agree with this. But I don't understand the hate they get. They seem like cool peeps, way better than other rock bands people seem to hate equally.UncleBBQ wrote:I do enjoy some of their older material; it's quite nostalgic.

Oh hey most of this thread was a month ago. More comments:
Weezer, man. I don't know. I love all of the stuff I've kept around but yknow. Also Rivers's solo cds are rad. Lofi sad punk stuff.
The album with FF Big Me on it is BA
If you take Weezer, Foos, Nirvana, and RHCP - that was like half of high school

Bitter? I thought it was pretty funny and self aware about like 'I hate this guy and I have no real reason to he just bugs me so I probably suck just as much'.
Anyway I've watched a couple of these and the bits without foo fighters in them are awesome. Although kinda weird that they're travelling around the country going to all these studios and enlisting the experience of all these legendary musicians...and making songs that just sound like the rest of the foo fighters

I didn't really get that tone from the article. I read it along the lines of 'I hate this guy and here are all the reasons you should too'dase wrote:Bitter? Still there might be some truth to it. But I still think he's a rad guy and what he doing isn't just some huge selfish thing to promote himself. Just bringing awareness to all of these amazing acts is pretty awesome in itself
That being said I do find it funny how a major theme of the show is that the setting dictates the music. Then the Foo Fighters go around recording in all these amazing places....and they sound like the Foo Fighters
