I've never heard anyone call Dinosaur Jr's live sound a mix :p

Not that the bass and drums were too quiet when I saw em, but J Mascis was just insanely loud. The fact that there's just one guitar makes a use difference too imo.

Fwiw, I think I remember reading somewhere that Billy Corgan hasnt used big muffs live for years, because of where it puts his guitar in the mix :idk:

So yeah, turning up the volume and maybe scooping the mids will do the trick, but impo its still a challenge to rely on a muff for most of your lead rhythm stuff when youre in a loud band with two gtrs...

When you hear more than one sound together you are hearing a mix??? :idk:

The op is playing one guitar with drums and bass loops... I think the real culprit might be the 4x10s as stated above...

I was kiddin, cause me and everyone I know always leave a dinosaur jr show deaf as fuck :)
I dont know if its changed, but back in the day dinosaur jr was a sound guy's nightmare.

And yeah, I guess I'd have to agree it would indeed make sense for the OP to try a different cab.
