Potential Pedal Power Problems

Post by Inconuucl »

So, I just got my new Deep Six Compressor (It looks amazing!) But I have one problem that's truly vexing me. When I plug it into my board, it it produces a lowpitch electrical hum that's there when the pedal is on, regardless of what's on the input, it's loud enough to be completely undesirable. This problem does not occur when I use a standard wall wart, however. What gives? Should I contact the seller/walrus audio?

Inconuucl: I can shoegaze that tune with 5 pedals.
other contestant: I can shoegaze that tune with 4 pedals.
Inconuucl: I can shoegaze that tune with 3 pedals.
other contestant: OK, shoegaze that tune!

is it a 60hz humm? grounding issue? or maybe your power supply isn't supplying enough current for the pedal.

I'm using a voodoo labs pp2.

It doesn't sound like my strats hum, it's lower in pitch and warmer in tone.

how much current does your pedal need? i recently plugged in pedal to my pp2 that needed 500ma which is more than the pp2 can supply and there was a low hum.

Actually, my Deep Six does the same thing. But since I currently have 12 pedals on my board and only a Voodoo Labs 4x4 it's not that much of a problem for me, as I have the deep six hooked up via daisy chain and it doesn't hum (as it does when being powered by the 4x4).

It is quite weird though.

fixed it by using my Polytunes power out, since I have that on a separate power source. :idk:
