Fawn really does look nice, but orange would be cool too.

I already have my colour scheme picked out for when/if I ever order a Street Sweeper. I want light blue, like this photo, but with white exterior instead of black. I think that would look pretty damn snazzy. Unfortunately, I don't see it happening soon.

I went with surf green exterior on black, it looks awesome in the photos I've seen. Just waiting for my 'bend over abigail mae, here it comes!' letter from customs now.

What the hell do you have to pay that for, after paying shipping?

In australia, if the value is over a certain threshold you pay tax and import duty on the cost of the item, the shipping and the insurance.

The idea is to protect the domestic market. Same thing happens in the EU, at least until that fucking free trade agreement with the US is signed, but probably import taxes will be the least of our problems then.

it's weird though, the threshold here is like $1000, anything under that and there's no fees whatsoever, go over it and you're slapped with at least 15-20% of the value extra.
for example stuff like buying clothes from overseas fashion wholesalers is really easy/cheap/convenient here and probably cripples the domestic market for that, but stuff like boutique amps and custom guitars you're absolutely screwed with fees, on top of the exchange rate usually being pretty bad and shipping costs being astronomical for larger items.
definitely not complaining looking at the customs the european dudes are getting slapped with just for pedals though.
i'm sure the amp will be worth it! you probably paid less all up than buying a Fender Twin or something at australian retail price

I'm expecting €400+ for my custom Dunwich amp coming from the States, and it's a cheaper amp than the Science. Ireland has a 23% VAT rate, but you also have to pay duties and additional charges for musical instruments. No way around it unless you want to take the huge risk and (break the law) by marking the value of the item down. I've done that with pedals in the past since they're so hard to break, but I would not do that with an amp or guitar. The amp would be crazy cheap if I could avoid paying taxes on it. But I have a disability and those taxes pay my rent and my medication, so I'm willing to make sacrifices in order to have a roof over my head and food in my tummy.
