Thinking of getting a head

Post by Jules-RM »

:picard:

Like I need another one. I already have two. :erm:

My Peavey VK is nice and all, but it's not really my style. What's good out there that's reasonably priced and 30w or less. Actually considering a handwired 15w Vox. I've always sort of wanted a Vox, but too skint to spluge too much moola.

There something else in a similar vein that is under $800?

I know, was trying to have a little fun.

I'll check out the Jet City, haven't heard of them, thanks.

Tiny Terror is already on my viewscreen, isn't it rather dirty already though? I would like decent cleans as well.

I've had some serious vox gas lately.

Why not just go for the regular vox custom classic 15/30? They are great amps, sure they are made overseas, but what isn't these days.
The cool thing there is you can slowly upgrade your cab (instead of saving a huge chunk of cash first) if you are one of those who believe a Vox should only have blues.

The handwired has a few unique features and is worth it imo, but is probably out of your budget unless you find somebody desperate to unload the amp.

Yeah, I've had Vox GAS for years, but was wondering if there's something similar that's in the same price range.

I was surprised that the VAC amps use 6v6's, but they are a bit more expensive than I expected.

This one is slightly out of my price range, but might be decent? I haven't heard much about the heritage series.

They appear to be discontinuing this one, very cheap used. It's not an AC30, but might be close enough?

Here's the 15w handwired I'm thinking of for $899

And of course I'm considering the AC30 CC also at $899.

I've got decent Avatar 2x12 for now.

After reading more about that 2nd link, I don't think it's for me. I suspect it's part of the cheaply made/crap new lot of Vox.

Yea I'd just flatout avoid that 2nd one XD

I think the main issue I'd have with the heritage series is never wanting to bring it outside of the house.
A/B it with a custom classic if you can. I still think the custom classic sounds "good enough", see if the added ef86/switches/options are worth the extra dough.

As for alternatives..I'm sure bugera makes a cheaper copy of the AC somewhere.
The other ones I can think of (badcat, tophat, dr. Z, hayeseed, 65amps) all cost way more than the heritage handwired.

A head? I highly reccomend it. Most of your sensory organs are located there, ya know. :)
I want a giant bunny and I want a bunch of regular bunnies and they will form a hive mind and the giant bunny will be the queen bunny and they will attack in swarms.

Looking at the Egnater Rebel 30, anyone have any thoughts? Definitely in my price range.

While my Crate V3112 sounds pretty damn sweet with just a SM57 it seems like a cool option to just run direct. It's also nice that the Egnater has the option to blend different power tubes.

I was thinking more for live when I started this tread, but the recording possibilities are weighing a little more now.

I've heard there's some issues with the Egnater not sounding as good live as at bedroom levels. That's not good.

AC30CC back in the lead...

Yeah, I would go with the AC30. MF is having their used gear sale right now so if you buy the used head (which they claim is in mint condition), it would only cost you a little over 900. Not too shabby!

I snagged the AC30HH for $830. No reverb or trem, but I don't use those anyway.
