After all was said and done it was about 2300 dollars (Canadian) which I could have spent on an off the rack guitar, but fuck that this thing is mine and no one else's.
That is a nice looking guitar. I like the wenge and the inlay, super cool.
Do you get much singing harmonic overtones from the strings behind the bridge? I used to get that on the headstock side of my SBG due to the biggish headstock but mainly just from one string so it was more annoying than anything.

My personal collection has gone the other way, I don't have one amazing primary guitar, just two really nice guitars plus a collection of players. Must have been fun to combine all your favorite features into one guitar.
Edit: and what are all those switches for?

Thanks! I don't notice any overtones, no.
Individual volume and tone knobs for each pickup and a 5 way switch because of coil tapping. The single coil sound from WarPigs is pretty gnarly.

So I'm necrobumping this thread because I've been contemplating selling my Monson.....
I rarely find myself playing 6 strings anymore, I'm just so used to the 7's and playing tuned that low. Plus I don't play in a band right now with 6 strings, and something kinda rare that's discontinued popped up locally that I'm interested in.... soo yeah... I dunno.... just kinda putting this out there to talk myself through this haha

Just tune the 6 down lower. I've easily done so with a couple of 6s.. tuned them down to F# with no issues.

I actually use the highest string on my sevens on occasion strange enough.... The main thing is that theres an opportunity to get something that would be extremely hard to come by thats available in my area. Something I would probably end up using more often than the Monson.... so I'm torn.

I would just keep it, but I have no problem keeping everything since I usually find a way to utilize everything, even if it's slightly or occassionally.
But if you have to sell something that you want more then go on and sell it. With my 7 string I actually tuned it to have an extra high string so I can see the use. An extra high was more usable for what I do and just tuned down lower overall.

Yeah I unfortunately don't hve the chance to keep everything and still buying $1k instruments when i want to... It's alot of sell to buy kinda shit until next years tax return.
I'm gonna check out the item I want before making a decision as at the moment its extremely over priced but I have a feeling I can get it for the price I want. Just gotta make sure its exactly what I want.

Ha! I like your veracity! I'm thinking of expanding my amp and cab collection.... The amp won't be until next tax return but I have the chance to get a cab that would make a perfect compliment to my current rig.... that you can't order anymore.... and are getting harder and harder to find..... and this one matches near perfectly......

Re: I'm thinking of getting a Monson guitar made. (Opinions?
this is just my humble opinion, but i wouldn't unload an awesome and unique masterly crafted guitar like that to fund (in my opinion) an overly hyped wooden box. you can, at any time, commission a cab build from any number of awesome folks who will build to your specs and stain it to match your other cabs. it may not be branded by the "dictator", but it can match aesthetically, compliment your rig, and be super well made by someone cool.
i just think a guitar is a much harder thing to get right and a custom "small builder" guitar is much harder to come by. you may not play 6 strings much these days, but you'll probably play guitar for a long time to come and it's hard to imagine that anyone wouldn't end up getting good use out of a six string. just my two cents. but do what makes you happy, and i'll be happy for you.

That's why I've been struggling.... i've pretty much decided not to sell it. I'm not sure why I'm thinking of getting even more cab's when there's gonna be few enough shows to bring two out too. Plus then I'm also looking having to get another head (well buying back the weed wizard which is still gonna happen...) while I'm pretty much good to go with what I have currently. Another though I had is if I'm gonna get a smaller gigging cab then I'd most likely want a 2x12 / 1x115 combo cab. For small venues it will be loud enough while maintaining the speaker combo I have in my big rig.

for sure man. Keep the monson. I think about all the amazing gear you have gone through and I can't help but think you sometimes get caught up the the hunt. Some things you should keep forever. I'm 12 string exclusive so I get how you feel about not using guitars that are adequately strung
There's still a couple sixes that I will never sell and I've thought about it, but I'm glad I had no takers when My strat was briefly on CL.
