VHT(Fryette) Pittbull 45. Kind of like an ac30 meets hiwatt. 30-45 watts, el 84s, 2 channels with a foot switchable.boost on each channel, really good fx loop.
Takes pedals very well. NOT a high gain amp. Very overlooked IMO. I've seen them go between $600-$800

Why are Music Man amps being called "sleeper amps"?

Re: sleeper amps
even on Craigslist they are crazy cheap…I am old enough to remember when those were the amp to have in the early 90's.rfurtkamp wrote:Jazz Chorus 50/55/60 are criminally cheap if you prowl GC's used site regularly.
All the fun with an extra out for stereo chorus/feed to a board/slave amp, and blisteringly loud for a 1x12

I think it depends on where you are.ChetMagongalo wrote:well to me I think they are well priced for how good they sound and how loud they are.rot gut wrote:Why are Music Man amps being called "sleeper amps"?
In LA right now on craigslist I see a 210 HD130 for $900 and a 212 65 for $695, that's quite a lot for those amps.
I picked up my HD130 for $450 and a friend got a 212 HD130 for $500. That's around where they should be, tbh.

Re: sleeper amps
Yeah I agree. I got my HD130 for $450 (even though I had to put work into it, I still think it was a good deal). They become a lot less fantastic when you start paying over $600

Also, KMD XV100SD. Like a more polite JCM800 but with two channels with independent EQ and two fx loops. With 4 6550 running warm it's capable of some massive volume and huge lowend, particularly with my Tremoverb's preamp running into it.
I use mine as a slave amp in a stereo rig with my Mesa Tremoverb by splitting the Mesa's loop send signal with a couple stereo pedals.
