I do think everybody wants different things, and hears things differently (I'm not arguing that the amp you're talking about isn't poo though - I have no experience with that amp).

i love svt's too. if you've played one and love it and want one and can get it in your budget, you would really be wasting your time to look around for something else. there's other loud tube heads and good heads for cheaper. but there's nothing like an svt. hands down my favorite bass head. i'm with others here in that i lean towards liking the vintage reissue a little more, but the classics are great too. my bass payer has a classic and i love it.

I'll just put this here while it lasts...

1969-1970 Ampeg "blue line" SVT bass amp & V4 cab! Rare! - $2200 (East Austin)

I really don't want to sell this, but I'm testing the waters. I have back and wrist problems and I just can't continue to schlep this around. If I can't get what it's worth I'll just keep it in the studio. Retubed and recapped at Austin vintage. They said some of the parts dated back to 1965! Although 69 was the first year in production. Get a rare piece of Ampeg history. This is my fourth SVT and it's by far the best sounding that I have had. More bite/growl than a regular SVT, but it can still be super smooth Motown goodness with the treble/mids rolled off. This is THE BASS AMP! $2200.
