Re: Pedals and batteries--opinions needed, w/ poll!
I like having the option.
I have a couple of adaptors, a 1 Spot which makes some pedals very noisy.
Daisy chains are ok, but some of my pedals are positive ground which means a separate adaptor for them.
Eventually I will probably get a power supply (or 2) and make every thing neat.
I saw a photo of a board that had everything through holes routed underneath It looked great without the cable/power lead mess.
Some times it’s nice to be able to just stick a pedal in your guitar/bass case and not worry about wall warts, boards etc.

The option is cool, that way at a gig if one gets unplugged it still runs, and you don't need to bring the power supply to jams either. I always use power supplies but the option is nice.

I used dollar store batteries for dirt and fuzz pedals... sometimes I can even find two for a buck! I like when the voltage starts to sag. For everything else though, it's getting the One Spot.

I love the smell of solder in the morning.

I almost always use my PedalPower to power my pedals because I don't like worrying about batteries dying on me. Only problem is I have my board set up in a very particular way and it's a real pain in the ass to rearrange it or take out the PedalPower with just a couple pedals. So if I'm playing at a jam or some other situation where I don't want my whole board, it's definitely nice to have the option of battery power.

agreed. I only use batteries in two pedals, my Muff, but that won't ever run out, and I use re-chargables in my DL4 (they last surprisingly long actually) because I don't have the proper power supply.

I'm very much against batteries in everything, not just pedals.

i actually stopped using batteries because it was a pain in the ass to have to unplug all of my patch cables every time i was done playing.
now if i don't have the option to use an adapter, i probably won't buy it.

No batteries.
One great option would be to have a little bit of wire with a 9v attachment at one end and an adapter plug at the other. Folks could then use a battery to power their pedal even though the battery clip/space is not built into the enclosure.
This would be for people who prefer to use adapters but want to have a back-up in case stuff breaks or outlets are hard to find or whatever.

It actually irritates me when batteries are included in new pedals. That means I have to unscrew the back, take the battery out, wrap the battery clip in electrical tape, and screw it back on.

I never ever use batteries. I am an AC-power-only guy. You just never know when a battery is gonna crap out. What happens if you're in the middle of a song?

extra annoyance for people who will just wind up taking them out anyway.

I like it when a pedal comes with a battery cuz I can test it out without looking for, or unplugging something else to test it out. Other then that and the few pedals I have that are battery only, and my e-bow, I never use batteries really.

I always use batteries in my dirt pedals. I dont think i've got a particulary good ear, but i can hear a difference. Pretty much all other types of pedals sound better with AC power, especially Wah's and delays. Cheap, non-alkaline batteries sound the best to me and dont need changing that often......
