i dunno if categories by the number of pedals could be that useful. if someone has 5 1590A's on a board and they're in the same category as someone with 5 strymon/eventide pedals the boards aren't really in the same 'category'.
Likewise, if the biggest category is 11+ or something, somebody with 12 pedals will be in the same category as elevenstrings

That's a world of difference.
There are enough people here that will salivate over compact boards and tastefully-prepared cheaper gear that having no categories would be ok, i reckon. I always vote based on tetris pedal arrangement skills

People with jobs shouldnt be able to compete against unemployed folks. Also maybe a subdivision for single versus married with kids.
