Been gone for a while...thoughts on the latest Boris album?

Post by UncleBBQ »

Hello fellow ILFriends.
I just recently came back to this site after quite a long absence.

Wanted to know what everyone thought of the most recent Boris album - "Noise".

I thought it was :excellent:

Will go into more detail as I see replies!

For those that liked their post-smile stuff, it was great. For those that didn't, it was a step in the right direction. Personally, I'm still jamming out to it.

I have been a fan of everything I can get my hands on, they don't seem to disappoint.

I'm still rocking it, hard.

I liked it, but I kinda get the "meh"ers. It's not the most interesting record they've done. But I find it to be a nice combination of what they've been doing lately.

I've been listening to 'New Album' for the last few weeks. I love that album. Such a guilty pleasure for me :yay:

I think the only thing I've liked in the last 5 years or so was "Praparat" and I can't even buy a copy because it's so limited.

Honestly Rainbow was great but after that I can't say I've enjoyed much of their output....

Noise was definitely their most musically accomplished and over-all listenable work in a whiiiiiiiiile. The last few years of their output seem to have been 50% awesome / 50% dicking around.

The best thing about it was the Sargent House version's cover.

What is Boris' angle? I don't understand them. They seem pretty bland to me but they seem to be pretty popular around here and I typically agree with most folks taste around here which is why I like it here. Am I too old? Am I too narrow minded? Have I been listening to too much ABBA? What am I missing? What is an album that would make say "hot damn"?

I think you might like Sun Baked Snow Cave, but most people should start with Pink, Feedbacker, Heavy Rocks I and Flood,

- Japanese
- heavy-fuzz guitars
- gong
- orange and sunn amps
- mediocre drummer as the showman
- a MILF as the lead guitar
- double neck bass/guitar
- US tours like twice p/year

You're gonna love them sooner or later.

Start with (orange) Heavy rocks and Flood.
