So, the shop down the road from me got one in.
I never thought I'd actually see one in Bris, let alone down the road from me, in THAT fucking shop.
It kind of hit my GAS in a bad way.
I deliberately didn't play it. But I stupidly asked the guy if they could get in the other colours (I fucking hate tobacco sunburst). He said they could.
Retail is $750 Aus. I would probably try and get one on the cheap from overseas and import it.
Dudes who own them:
Are they worth it, seriously?
Can I drop the tuning with some amount of intonation/nut work (I read Bearstripes' thread. I didn't wanna gum up his conversation)?
What other work do they potentially need? I remember Shannon saying he had to do a bunch of fret work to one.
Can I/Would I want to stick a humbucker in the arse of it? Does the single coil on/off thing work better than that?
Does anyone split theirs between a Bass and Guitar rig?
Thanks team!

The Squire Bass VI is so similar that it's really not worth it. For the price you can get a Squire and change the neck for a Warmoth of your specs.

I've got one and I love it. I want to swap out the bridge, maybe get some new tuning pegs and a new nut for thicker strings, but as it is it's still a good instrument. I dunno about dropping the tuning, tension is pretty low with the 30" scale. With a new nut for extra thick strings though don't see why it couldn't be done. Neck and frets are decent on mine.
I totally want to drop some other pickups in when I have the time/money just to try out different stuff but the stock ones sound pretty decent.

Cool, thanks man.
Yeah, the bridge and nut would be my biggest concern.
I would probably also block the trem (purists beware). I think its cool, but I don't use em and it would just fuck with me.

Haha, set up right you shouldn't ever notice it, jag/jazz trems aren't like floyds. But yeah, nothin stopping you blocking the thing.

Yeah I get that, but I'm ham handed and just prefer hard tails and tune-o-matics in general.
I'm also one of those people that shouldn't be allowed to have a trem, as well.

for what it's worth I love the idea of bass vi's but I've found my fender kinda underwhelming. I've played it about twice in the last six months. Busted it out recently thinking I could use it tuned down through guitar and bass amps and yeah...didn't sound great.
