Which Devi?

Post by goroth »

Always wanted to grab a Devi pedal, but prioritising the gig board and Devi's random build quality made other purchases get in the way first.

So... If you could recommend any one Devicraft pedal, what would/should it be (and if you're feeling verbose, why?) I'm game for anything that isn't a straight up boost and it'll be used on a guitar. No other requirements.

The new Devicraft offers the Torns Peaker / Aenima combo, both of which rule for the trashy / noisy business.

+1for Torn's Peaker. I built one a while back and I absolutely love it to pieces. Sounds utterly destroying on bass, but real nice for guitar too, it's a really dynamic pedal that responds to how you play. Plus it fucking rips.

And in a combo format with an Aenima?

:excellent:

Destructo Noctavia. No? I've always wanted one because everyone hates it.
Does it have the same circuit as the Aenima, or am I mixing pedals?

I tried Eivind's Legend of Fuzz, and it was a really cool silicon videogame spitting little monster.

I'm currently waiting for my Dark Boost+Hyperion dual pedal, which I think will be a great combo. I'll be sure to do a demo, both separately and with the circuits combined.

Soda Meiser or Torn's Peaker. Those are the flagship pedals to me. SM for unique octavia or scrambled muffy fuzz. Torn's peaker for more high end, noise, trashy fuzz with a synthy sound on single notes.

Have more money? Shoegazer. Both in one box!

I like the Bit, Devistortion, Karaoke Party, Torn's Peaker and maybe the Vintage Fuzz Master, the rest of what I played didn't sound that great to me, not as powerful:
Aenima, Beautiful Disaster, Disaster Fuzz, Godzilla, Rocket, Shoe Gazer, Soda Meiser, Truly Beautiful Disaster, US, War Horse

I guess I mainly don't like the Disaster and Soda Meiser type circuits because they sound and feel very compressed to me, they lack punch and balls in my opinion.
I've always been interested in the Noise Floor and OK but I never tried them.
good deals with: the_brow, phantasmagorovich, alexsga, DarkAxel, goroth, The Wood Wizard, Tendollarcat, vbps, monkeydancer, intothegroove, Brobee

"random build quality". That actually pretty nicely summarises why I never realy concidered picking up a DE pedal untill the recent em...management change. The shoegaze would be the one for me. Dispite the gimmicky aesthetics that is, I don't really give a crap about what my peds look like.

Do they currently make a SM with chaos mode? If so, that. If not, I'd recommend a Never Drive, a Noise Floor, or a double pedal. I figure it's best to start with something on the crazier side for things.

I will also mention that the bit sounds fucking sweet with a delay before it.

I'm a sucker for the VFM. Such beautiful disharmonic fuzziness. Kind of like certain settings on a brassmaster.

Also, the US. Cuts through any mix like a scalpel.

Yes, the SM is lovely.

But really, the new BDSM (TP/AE in parallel with a Ruiner) is going to RULE ALL!!!!!!
