I didn't read the thread, but Of Montreal are one of my three favorite bands of all time.

They're like trippy proggy pop, and Skeletal Lamping is a masterpiece.

Brightside - now and loud (free album on bandcamp, poppy guitar)
Smith st band are one if my fav bands, poppy in a singalong sense but a bit more punky

I saw them live a couple of years ago at The Metro in Melbourne. They went off. One of the best shows I have ever been to. And I've been to a lot. The vocalist is a real live wire. So much energy you would think she has ADHD.
