Good to keep in mind. I haven't been able to time my parry for shit when it comes to the pursuer. I messed around with it for a while in the Smelter Demon room, but couldn't really keep it up.

The Pursuer is tough and that lunge-stab is devastating. I've always just used my go-to Souls strategy, keep your shield up and strafe. Havel's Shield and a Curved Dragon Greatsword have been my friends.

Man, I want some dope equipment. I'm just stuck with a silver eagle kite shield and homunculus mace.

also, if you've got a petrified something/smooth and silky stone, go back to things betwixed and leave them in the birds nest for random gear.

Fought the Last Giant, found a halberd I liked and was feeling pretty badass. The Pursuer took care of that.

The pursuer is a big ol' d-hole. But he can be parried. Watch out when his sword glows blue, that shit will fuck you up something fierce.

I cannot beat the Pursuer. I can't get the hang of parrying him, his swings are so fast. Even summoned someone in and still got killed.
My level of enjoyment has taken a sharp decline.

I can't parry anything
My tedious way of killing the Pursuer was to learn his moveset and be patient as fuck, only swinging when I knew for sure I was safe.
He's pretty easy to dodge if you circle to his right (if I recall correctly), the only attack you have to be careful with is his spin attach because it covers a huge distance

^good advice

I also recommend leaving that area and coming back later when you've leveled up a bit. Try going back to Heides where you first started the game.

This, he is actually optional for quite sometime and the knights at Heides are a cakewalk.

I agree with going elsewhere in the game for a spell. It's open enough that if you get stuck somewhere, you can just go do something else for a while and try again later. It might take some tries, but you can also lure the Pursuer in front of one of the ballistas, and then parry him. While he's recuperating, run and shoot him with the ballista. It will literally take his health down so low that you can finish him with one hit, maybe two. Just be careful that he doesn't destroy the ballistas, because he will. Because he is a dick.

Yeah I remember at the start of the game I tried to go through Heide's Tower first and got destroyed. Then I found Forest of Giants and was super happy until I got destroyed by the Pursuer. When I got fed up with him and went back to Heide's Tower I found it much easier. So yeah I agree you really might want to go explore elsewhere

So hyped for the release of Planetary Annihilation. I've waited for it to be feature complete before jumping in.
