question about re building a strat

Post by stripes »

hey all... it's been a while.

anyway, i'm currently in the process of re finishing and building a MIJ strat from the early 80s.

this isn't mine, but it's the closest thing to the original that i could find on the internet. it has the exact knob/pickup/input jack layout as the one i have.
two single coils, one humbucker (or is it a trembucker?), two knobs, 5 way switch, and a floyd rose bridge.

what i'm basically doing is stripping everything and just using the neck and the body... it's going from 80s metal to 50s surf basically.
here's what the neck and body are looking like

and the pickguard has this layout -

my question is that given the layout on the body and pickguard, do i have to keep the floyd rose bridge or can i put in a standard strat bridge?

I don't mess with Floyds at all but I think they make quite a large route in the body for them. As long as you're willing to glue in some new wood I think you'll be alright.
