Sunn Concert Bass Head

Soon to be a proud owner of a Sunn Concert Bass, using it with guitar. Going to be using a Peavey Triple X along with it. Any Sunn Concert Bass users? How does it take fuzz?

I have a concert bass. I played a baritone guitar through it for a bit. Make sure you get a foot pedal for it as you can turn on and off a boost and distortion section, but in my opinion you pretty much need to leave the boost on all the time to make it loud enough. The distortion section is pretty nice though and I like it. The foot pedal needs to be rca plugs too but fender sells those. It takes pedal alright but it does so much different then a tube amp. The pedals I really liked with my other amps didn't sound as good with the concert bass so you will have to try out a few different pedals to find what sounds good with the amp.

I have a concert lead. The clean tone is the shit. It really sounds great with my Big Muff. My Iron Pig (a rat) or any other OD / distortion type effects have not sounded very good though.

Can I run it into either my Peavey Triple X Cab which is 16ohm or my 2x12 pine cab that's 8ohm and expect good results?

I think they go up to 4ohms yeah? For the most volume and efficiency you want to get as close as you can to its max ohm rating.

I love my Concert Bass. The footswitch has been broken for as long as I've had it, but it must be broken in the "on" position because it is loud as shit. It is 4ohms so I always ran it 4 ohms. By attaching both my Marshall 4ohm cabs, it plays at 8ohm load and it sounded good but I didn't want to take chances so always run just one 2x10 cab. Also, those cabs are (physically) heavy as hell and I am very, very lazy. Soundwise it is raw, clean with good headroom. Takes pedals better than anything else I've had. I switch back and forth from guitar to bass so yeah its perfect for me.

I used to play guitar through a Concert Bass. I loved the way it sounded. I would just crank the volume as if it ran as a non master volume amp. I only stopped playing it because it was not loud enough to keep up with the rest of the band. It sounded great though. It was a gritty distorted type of drive which I can imagine sounding good with a muff or something that plays well with something else already driven (the amp). To get the most volume you want to use a 4 ohm cab. Your 16 ohm cab can be re-wired down to 4 ohm quite easily, if you know you'll play the Sunn close to permanently. Your 8 ohm cab will just drop the volume a hair. I wouldn't even recommend playing it through the 16 ohm cab as it is, but that's just me.

I found out I can run my Triple X cab in stereo at 8ohms so Im probably going to run it with two speaker cables in stereo as the Concert Bass has two speaker inputs. If I find that volume is an issue, I will get it re wired down the road. I will be running it with my Peavey Triple X and an Radial Tonebone ABY pedal. The Peavey will be running into a 2x12 pine cab with V30's. I have a Pharaoh, which sounds amazing the the Peavey, really dark, warm and crushing. Also an Oath which sounds amazing and really makes the Triple X sounds like a Model T, huge sound with massive low end, a savage yet beautifully sinister tone. Last is my recently acquired Quantum Mystic. Tons of clarity, massive low end, which is common with all my Black Arts pedals, and a vintage flavor that is highly inspiring. Its my favorite BAT pedal yet and the one I plan on using with my new Concert Bass, perhaps stacked with the Oath. Cant wait to get mad scientist on different pedal and amp combinations.

I play mine with Guitar through a Peavey 4x12 w/ Sheffields and LOVE IT...

Takes Pedlols well and is too loud...
