Dude, Doppelganger is what made me want to play music. I never realized before i heard it that you could play riffs like that and have wierd song structures and WTF is this finger tapping business?

Manipulator was okay, but the one after it was garbage. Theyre apparently playing again with the original bassist, so we'll see if anything good comes of it.

For some reason that I can't explain when I was 14 or 15 I liked Korn. Yeah I know, I know.

Used to be huge into ska and skate punk as well.

Kinda grew out of all of it but I can still get down with some pop-punk tunes sometimes.

I have to admit, pop punk/ska gigs are still a shit ton of fun.

My girlfriend and I saw Zebrahead in Magdeburg recently whilst on holiday, best gig I've been to in ages.

Seeing how much Less Than Jake have aged is pretty bleak though.

I used to be all about Dream Theater back in high school. Nowadays they are more of a nostalgia thing. :idk:

Yeah, like, how are they still going? I guess I'm impressed by their persistence.

I do miss those shows, they were a big part of my youth! The crowd always had a great time, whereas I went to see St Vincent on thursday and while she was brilliant the crowd seemed like they just didn't give a fuck!! I need to find some bands that are both good and have audiences that like dancing.

I think it really varies band to band.

I'll admit I've never been to a bad Zebrahead gig, every single one has been amazing.

It's tricky though, because if a pop-punk gig is advertised, some people will go expecting stuff like old Sum 41, whereas others will expect youmeatshits!

Use to listen to the Beatles and classical exclusively until I was 13 and discovered guitar and the white stripes at the same time. Nothing has changed really in what I like, stuff just gets added. Recently it's been doom, stoner and noise rock.

I embarrassingly enough used to listen to radio Disney constantly as well before the white stripes stuff happened. :picard:

refused's shape of punk to come blew my mind when it came out. About a year later I heard the nation of ulysses and well...one has hold up and the other seems like derivative garbage.

Also I have a hot water music tattoo. Haven't listened to a single thing they've done past the first four albums and happy to keep it that way.

Which one is garbage? I think both bands hold up pretty damn well.

Same dude, the bass lines were my inspiration to play. Wouldn't be here without that album.

Yeah, it wasn't necessarily that I wanted to play those riffs, because I gravitated towards bass. I just wanted to play with someone who could play those riffs.

A good guitar player is #2 on my GAS list, right behind a good drummer.

I have way more shameful former music. I will reluctantly admit that I was really into the first Lostprophets album. I can't even listen to it anymore, after all the gross kid stuff.

On a lighter note, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned System of a Down yet.

I'll admit it, I bought the second slipknot CD when it came out. Realized it fucking sucked and traded it for an Alice In Chains CD like a week later and felt like I ripped the dude off. Never intentionally listened to them since. Fuck Slipknot.

Oh, and I liked the first Coal Chamber.

Don't tell anyone I admitted to either of those things.

And Six Feet Under's maximum violence album.

And I used to love Pantera (saw them three times.) I could probably still listen to the great southern trendkill, which was my favorite, but it'd be forced.

And I really can't take death metal as a whole anymore. Was my favorite from like 12 to 21 but I've moved on.

But some things never change while other must.
