Ibanez DML20

Post by Casavettes »

I recently discovered this pedal
Guess I've been living under a rock.

Kind of curious if it could replace my deluxe pitch pirate
While I love it, I'm not always crazy about the artifacts and crackles that are heard in the DPP
Can the DML cover this ground?
I've read from a few reviews that's it's tone can be a bit shrill

Any users care to chime in?
It seems like a great pedal that should still be in production

I have the DML10 which basically the exact same pedal as the DML20.

I don't think they're that shrill, they might seem that way if you're used to filtered repeats but they're just clean digital repeats. A little lower fidelity than like a DD7 or nova delay or whatever obviously cos they're quite old.
The modulation range is absolutely stupid wide, which i love to death but it can be difficult to dial in 'normal' sounds. The pitch will bend so low you can't even hear it.

The thing is, correct me if i'm wrong but the DPP is like a vibrato delay right? If you dial in a mod delay sound on the DML the pitch modulation will be there but its the delay time thats actually being modulated so the time between repeats will change constantly.

Fucking awesome pedals but not comparable to many other delays out there. I don't generally like delay that much but i get so much pitchy weirdness and machine gun-sounding slapback etc out of this thing, it's the best.

Are there other pedals. old or new, that are similar to the DML units?
