Alesis MidiVerb 3, anyone?

Post by anxietyswitch »

Alrighty, so I just wanna know if anyone has any experience with this thing?
I'm picking one up right after Christmas for like, 40 bucks, so I'm definitely gettin it, I just wanna see what your opinions are - (I think I trust ILF'ers more than anyone as far as gear goes LOL) I'm mostly using it for the 'verbs (ahhhhh reverse!) and maybe some chorus and flange, just trying to get my nasty purple Yamaha Magicstomp off of my board LOL (awesome pedal, just really really ugly, IMO. And the AC adapter doesn't play nice with the rest of my DC powered pedals. Can you say ground loop hum?)
I also wanna know if I can set the tempo of delays with a tap button, because then I can probably do away with my delay pedal and fit a controller on the top shelf of my board, otherwise, I'm gonna have to find a smaller MIDI foot controller and keep my DD-20 on my board. I've found info on the Midiverb 4 being compatible for tap tempo, but not the 3. (Go figure, I'm always just one away. )

i think there maybe was a general discussion about rack reverb before? perhaps just a general discussion about reverb where rack reverb stuff came up. not sure. i think the Midiverb is a good choice nonetheless. i think ppl here are more into the Yamaha SPX90.

i have a midiverb II. I actually prefer it to my spx 90. also, my understanding is that kevin shields actually uses the midiverb more than his spx.

Alright, so I've been messin around with it for a few days and... I've come to the conclusion that I absolutely hate it. At least for what I was looking for.
I really can't deal with the stupid input/mix/output controls, because I'm using it for some pretty damn extreme effects, and when I bypass the damn thing, it only gives me whatever normal input I have set through the mix control. :picard: Maybe I'm just doing something wrong???
Even when I can get something I kinda like, it really sounds wimpy. I like my MagicStomp better, so I guess it's staying.
And I know, I know, I've been saying I'll post samples... but... I'm too lazy to set up my recording gear. LOL
It'll happen one day, kiddies. :idk:
