Are you hell bent on keeping the pickguard? There is a site greasygroove.com that has very cool and varied pickguards, perhaps you can find something that will make your bass "pop".

Nah, I just figured keeping the pickguard means one less thing to buy.echoraven wrote:Are you hell bent on keeping the pickguard? There is a site greasygroove.com that has very cool and varied pickguards, perhaps you can find something that will make your bass "pop".
I would like an aluminum guard etched by Dan W or Acid Splash...
But that's a maybe one day kinda thing. I'll check that link out though! I'm going for sort of minimal.
Oh, what should I do with the headstock? I was thinking of leaving it blank. I thought I was super clever thinking of getting Fucker in the Fender font.
Then I googled.
So, I dunno now.

Re: just took apart my Squier jag bass
As it happens, I recently finished painting a strat I'm working on in satin green, like that tele.
After that I sanded the shit out of it in areas, revealing undercoats of black and white
I highly recommend satin/matte finish, and I'd say keep the headstock plain. It's rare that I've ever seen a plain headstock and I reckon it'd look pretty sweeet!

Re: just took apart my Squier jag bass
Base coat has been sprayed on the body, and I covered up the navy on the headstock. The color is a super dark metallic grey. I love it!
A couple splatters where the spraycan sputtered. Im hoping I can sand them out. I guess Ill try tomorrow afternoon and put another coat on it. Maybe tomorrow evening. its humid as fuck here.
Paying for the P pickup and gotoh bridge tomorrow. Hopefully getting the J pickup after the weekend. Once all that comes in, plus new strings, all I have to do is wait for the painting to be done.
Im really trying not to get in a hurry with this. Im hoping my patience will be rewarded with a badass bass.
Pics tomorrow.

Give each coat plenty of dry time with this humidity.
