I'm an idiot. I meant to say my left side crash is now a bit higher. My right side crash is off to the side but not as high as my left side crash. But, it IS a huge 24" crash.

That sucks! Good luck brother. I rent from a slumlord. You should see the way shit gets fixed around here. I have like, one three pronged outlet in my house. That's not too crazy for an old tear-down. But when water started to leak into my room, soaking the carpet around my bed, several times, creating black mold issues. His fix was painting over black mold, attempting to fix the leak, several failed times. Then falling back on draping a giant blue tarp down the side of the house from the roof to prevent water from coming in. Yeah... it's sort of a fix, but, in the most ASS way possible. And.... it sounds like a sail boat when the wind hits it. :picard:

I would tell the fuckers you are going to use the next few months rent money and get it fixed properly yourself and if he has any complaints about that then your lawyer and his lawyer can work it out. Don't know how rental legislation is in the states but if you use the right wording you can bullshit and bluff your way through most things. :idk:

we've already brought this news to our lawyers and it appears our landlord wants to settle out of court.
we'll see just how interesting this gets!

Wanting to settle out of court. Sounds like he's shitting his pants. I would still try to get it to court. Let a judge make a ruling that can properly be enforced by the sheriffs if he starts being shady down the track.

Shew.... Some kind soul saved me. I looked on Guitar Center used yesterday and noticed a Ludwig 14x6.5" Black Beauty Millennium edition with the brass tube hardware and rims. I don't normally go for that sort of flashy thing. But this just looked like a nice watch or something. Very sexy and retails for about $789 or so. It was still $499 used. But... I had just returned a $140 cymbal that didn't make the cut and had another $60 in gift certificates for GC that I have not found anything worthy of spending it on. Anyway, I was so close to pulling the trigger. I imagine that I will have one a SOME point, but I already have a super nice Ludwig Supraphonic, which is the aluminum version of the same snare, instead of the Black Beauty's nickle over brass shell.

I told myself to give it time, think about it, and if it's meant to be, it's meant to be. I checked late yesterday, did my research. I went back and listed to how awesome the Supraphonic sounds with Led Zeppelin. especially live, and forced myself to sleep on it. I woke up not feeling like I had to have it. And some kind soul snatched it up.

I am trying to save up to buy a house. I am a single dude, and the only reason that I would be able to afford a house, is that I qualify for a VA loan. I SO want a place I can practice all to myself. It has been a looooooong time since I have had that. I really only get to play when we are practicing as a band. So, while not fun, the money is better served not spent on toys at the moment. I am a professional interwebs window shopper.

Just think, you could find a place where there is no black mold trying to kill you.

Yeah, no doubt. When I think of my dilapidated apartment, I always seem to have D.R.I.'s "Slumlord" song playing in my mind.

Good luck in the house hunt! I had to shop with my wife so I only had a short list that I cared about... 2 bedrooms. so one can be for all my paint supplies and what not. A parking space that's not in the street like our old place, and a backyard big enough to build a shed in. I got what I wanted for the most part, still wish the backyard was bigger. Hell more like at my mom's house where my dad built a 25'x30' 2 story shed.

Cool brother. I would be happy with just a kick, snare and hi-hat over not playing. You can learn the fundamentals on far less. Hell, I need to break out the practice pad and work on my fundamentals. Enjoy the new drums man!

I'm so undisciplined. I need to spend more time practicing rudiments. It's just hard not to jump on the kit and just play stuff.

I hear ya. It is much more gratifying to jump on the kit and rock out. However, I will say this... I can still sound good overall without working on technique, but, if I want to get dialed in, and really improve, I need to put in some time working some shit out. That's why I will be pretty happy if I get a house. I will have somewhere where I can work out ideas and push myself. I often have ideas in my head that are right on the cusp, or just beyond what I can consistently pull off.

I sit down at the kit with the right intentions to spend some dedicated time practicing the fundamental rudiments, but within 5 minutes or so I'm bored and just start rocking out. I know this is not good for overall technique but I just can't fight the rock.
Having a place to practice isn't a problem for me. I live in the country with a good buffer zone between neighbours and I have an understanding missus. I have been know to hit the drums or fuzz out with my guitar and amp cranked at 3 am.

I never sat down and done fundamental rudiments. Most of the time I came up learning how to play drums was practicing and writing with bands every single day just about for hours.
