Cabs showed up yesterday! Custom 28x28x14 Stagecraft 4x12s. Loaded them with Eminence Lil Texas speakers. Each cab weighs about half of what my full-size ceramic loaded cabs weigh. You can almost haul them around with one hand.

Very cool buddy, that'll be nice for portability.
Was there any reason to switch from bass speakers to guitar speakers for the Mother? I remember you had been using an Ampeg cab for the signal split. Just curious! I can't even imagine how loud that pair is.

Im actually using both 4x12s for the Decolonizer and still using a bass cab for the Mother. Im breaking in these speakers now so I just have them both plugged in to play around a bit. The Emis definitely handle the punch of the Mother without issue though.

Ah, I gotcha! Awesome. That's great man! I'd never heard of those speakers before, so thanks for the introduction

I'm interested in Neo speakers. How are you finding the Lil Texas speakers so far?

I was nervous about them but after cranking thinks up for the first time earlier today I REALLY like them. They have punch and clarity, no spiky highs, high power handling, and low weight. I'd definitely recommend them if weight is a concern. If not them they may not be worth the extra expense over Eminence's vast ceramic line.

I'm a little nervous about using them myself in my Dunwich combo that Nick's building for me. From what I've read, much of the criticism was directed at their harshness and rigidity, but no one I know and trust has used them so thanks for giving me your opinion. I'm aiming for a really lightweight combo I can cart around everywhere with just one hand, but it's only a 15 watter so I'm not sure how well it'll work with a high wattage speaker like the Eminence or the Jensen Neo speaker.

Well keep in mind that people say ceramic speakers are harsh and bright compared to alnicos. But most players love ceramic speakers. The V30 is industry standard and it can have a pretty harsh upper mid peak. And most guys are also comparing a broken in ceramic to a brand new neo, which isn't a fair comparison. A new speaker will always be stiffer and brighter until it breaks in.

What put the Lil Texas Neos above any of the other Neo speakers out there for you?

My positive experiences with Eminence speakers and the price. Most Neos are very expensive by comparison and I needed 8 speakers all at once.

I guess eight $150 Jensen speakers will be an awful lot of money, though the eight Lil Texas speakers is still a great deal of money.

I got a discount on them but yeah neos in general are expensive. The Jensen Tornado was the only other speaker I considered. Their efficiency is terrible though IIRC.

Not really interested in super efficiency myself in this situation since it'll be for very small gigs and home use.

Id always rather control my volume from the amplifier rather than have it be limited by the speaker.

Why? Wouldn't a lower sensitivity speaker be more 'efficient' for lower volume where the amp is working that much harder to put out the same volume level?
