I'm looking for a fancy tremolo pedal

Post by tremolo3 »

I'm in the market for a new tremolo and after hours of research it seems that the Empress Tremolo 2 is the best I could find that suits my needs, but then I found the Goatkeeper in the Pedalboards thread and wow, that thing is really amazing, a little bit pricey though :(

So I'm wondering what other obscure stuff is out there besides the well known tremolos that has tap tempo and EXP output.

Budget is $250

Doesn't have tap, but this thing looks sweet. Actually, I may have to buy this myself. I have been holding off cause I don't need no more trems. But the gas may win tonight. $265

Empress trem 2 is great especially because of the presets and ramp time into each preset.
Also set one preset as a straight clean boost
Lots of sounds from it

Think someone just made a tremolo thread. Search because I'm sure a lot of what they wanted was similar.

Zvex Sonar is my recommendation. Mmmm sexy.

Thanks for the suggestion though, never heard of that builder before.

If nothing else at least I made you smile. I just ordered it so we will see how it goes. FWIW, I have the Empress 2 and I never use it. I don't find it that inspiring despite it's feature set.

Recently got my Goatkeeper 3 updated with the preset mod and I can't imagine much better than that. Def pricey tho now that Austin isn't currently building them.

That Dreadbox sounds great Ugly Nora. Hadn't seen those before. Very nice.

I like the Moogerfooger Ring Mod as a tremolo (with the frequency toggle in the "low" setting it's a great trem.) Plus, you also get a Moog Ring Mod. Tap and sync and all of that it doesn't have exactly, but it does have all of that expression and CV control in the back.

Sonar seems pretty killer too!

I think it is, just had mine updated a couple months back. It's $50 for preset mod and you also get an expression update that let's it control either rate or depth depending on which you choose at power up.

Chek out the Catalinbread Tap Tempo Semaphore, loads of waveforms. Also has synch jack for slaving with your other tap tempo peds. Has a really nice tonez too.
