Myeah, that's sorta what I was worried about. I've got the fuzz departement covered, so I'll probably agree it should be pretty easy to find a delay w/ modulation that's a better bang for the buck.

Re: Halp me find a delay peddle!
Not to drag this thing on and on, to the contrary...Here's the more analog-ish voiced peds I decided to look for:
-MXR Carbon Copy. Might be a liiiiittle too minimalistic, and it might be a tiny bit too dark/muffled for live use. Great bang for the buck though, small, nice and ambienty repeats, the modulation seems very useable and not too over-the-top,...
-Catalinbread Montevillian. The demos sounds VERRY impressive, whatever thats worth. And the 'cut' control is bitching, I wish all delay pedals came with something like that.
A bunch of others that don't meet the size/price criteria, but seem worth making an extra effort for (ie, eat nothing but cereal for a month and get a bigger board):
-Freakshow Digilog: Fits the bill in terms of musical mushy trails and what not, plus there's
-Dr Scientist Sunny Day Delay. Srry if I'm beating a dead horse here, but why is there no delay pedal in the Dr Scientist catalgue? Is there by any chance a new one in the works I want to hold out for?
-Infanem SEA. $200, just like the two others contenstants, but probably equally hard to come by on the used market:s
...Which is another reason why I'm strongly leaning towards the Subdecay Echobox atm. No tap tempo, but depth/speed controls for the modulation, delay time upto 800ms. Still kinda small considering the specs, plus it has top mount jacks....
The only thing I'm not sure of: The modulation is more pitch shify than chorusy it seems. Goofy, annoying, weird...Just not my thing:idk:
AND....price whise, I could get a brand new one for $130
I love clearance sales as much as the next stinchy undecisive pedal addict, but I can't help but wonder what I'll be missing out on when they'll release their even more awesomer delay pedal that's supposed to replace the one I bought a week earlier in a -30% sale

Rrright, so I found out why they're practically giving away the "old" Subdecay Echo Box. The Anamnesis is pretty much their improved version, and it sorta addresses almost all my small complaints about the Echo Box
Except for the tap tempo switch that is.

The Anamnesis is a great delay. It sounds really good and the modulation is lovely. my only gripe is I like longer delay times.

Damn yeah, almost overlooked thatChetMagongalo wrote:The Anamnesis is a great delay. It sounds really good and the modulation is lovely. my only gripe is I like longer delay times.
I read somewhere that one of the improvements it has over the echobox is the extended delay time, and I just assumed it was true, even though it came from some user review or forum...
Anyway, 600ms is indeed a bit tight for a digital delay in that price range, no matter how awesome it is otherwhise

Re: Halp me find a delay peddle!
Turns out 600ms isn't that short at all for a <$200 compact analog voiced delay pedal after all.
As far as the character of the repeats go, I like the CC, Disaster Transport Jr, Montavillian, Anamnesis the most. The Memory boy is by far the cheapest option, but it has an even shorter delay time that the others, even it's just a couple milliseconds. The repeats also sound the least yummy imo.
The ES2 goes upto 1s, which isn't too common for analog delays in the price range, plus it has the tap tempo. Back to square one
I really rather don't want to spend more and go with something like the Tape Delay, Faux Echo, or SupaPuss, as tempting as the specs and demos may be...:s

Re: Halp me find a delay peddle!
Dr sci will release a new delay pedal, but I think Ryan has a lot of work to do first - getting the production BitQuest out and ramping up the production there, then developing algorithms. I can't see it happening soon but it will happen. And it will slay.
Most analogue voiced delays top out at 600ms because that's when the popular pt2399 chip shits itself. Very few boutiquers using other chips.
Got a link to a cheap echo box dude?
(I love our threads veering into each other)

Hehe yeah, ya can't have too many delay threads going on at the same time. Or fuzz thread for that matter
Yeah, I also did my reasearch on the basics of delay circuits. It's obviously no coincidence that good sounding delays with more delay time use different technology, which hikes up the builfing costs a bit.
That Echo Box clearance deal I mensioned:
http://www.prymaxevintage.com/subdecay-echobox-delay/
30% off. Int shipping starts from $16 I think. But the $ vs Euro conversion is in our favor. So dispite being a bit bigger than the anamnesis it'd be a killer booteek delay pedlol for hardly more than what an ehx Memory Boy would cost me at most local shops. Do it mang. I think I'm gonna sit on my money untill Ryan unveils his new Dr Scientist delay. It better have more delay time than the Sunny Day Delay, be equally awesome as the ILFDD, and not more than $200 please:)

Re: Halp me find a delay peddle!
You may know more than I but I'm not too sure that's going to happen, especially any time remotely soon. I think if Ryan builds anything as feature packed and dope sounding as the ILFDD, it's going to be more than $200 there's no way it can't without some sort of technological development. It looks like you're doing a new board so I'd just say make some space and save up for an ILF Day Delay, you won't regret it.frigid midget wrote: think I'm gonna sit on my money untill Ryan unveils his new Dr Scientist delay. Yeah, I know, I was actually just dreaming outloud there. I'm sure something like the ILFDD is well worth the extra coin. If I weren't upgrading my intire board/rig all at the same time I wouldn't have trouble affording something like an ILFDDWes Mantooth wrote:You may know more than I but I'm not too sure that's going to happen, especially any time remotely soon.
