I want this thread and the newer Aluminum Neck Guitar thread to fight so I'm going to put them as close together as possible.

Kramer continued making 'heavy metal' guitars ruining their legacy and since Travis Bean didn't they're more sought after... ???

Travis was american. California? Gary Kramer started out making guitars at TB, left and started his own company, Bean was pretty much over by then. Kramer kept the aluminium thing going for a while, but made more cheaply, then abandoned it to work on more standard guitars. I'm not sure if there ever was a fight. TB went under because its guitars cost heaps to make and nobody bought them. Up until the end of the 90s they used to sit in pawn shops for peanuts, and they were never cheap to start with. The prices finally shot up when Shellac appeared and Vincent Gallo began buying them for ridiculous amounts, then collectors finally clued in (also: the internet), so they went from being a 70s rock oddity to rare collectibles.

Edit: There's more biographical details in the obits.

ex girlfriend thought it'd be sweet to engrave a love note on the back plate.... was sweet until we broke up.
begone with all things that are reminders of ex's.

it weighed a ton and needed 30mins of warming up before the tuning would settle.
kind of wish I still had it. I should have just looked for a new back plate.

Whats the neck thickness like on it? Is it fat or thin?

Yep. And the necks on the basses and the guitars on Kramers are pretty much the same

And oddly wide flat fret boards. They are awesome, but I always have this weird "reminds me of a classical guitar" feeling when I play mine...
