Plus, today when testing the sparkle on a pedal, the can exploded on me.
Not happy! Glitter everywhere!
Made some progress today -
Drew up the pick guard template for real!
very stoked on that.
The pickguard will be black 3-ply, so I can go with a black body incase the wood underneath the hideous donor body sucks.
Ordered everything, just waiting for it to arrive now.
Jesus, that's terrible!
Haha.

Re: Strat / TB500 build
So the donor body I received was beat to hell - had cracks into the wood!
I decided I would fill them and try and save it, which I have.
Today I will seal and prime the body and tomorrow I will do my first coat of paint… which I have decided on; storm blue (almost grey).
Anyway, here is the pick guard I struggled with making by hand! I think it turned out alright.

And here is the colour with the pick guard all routed!

Just waiting on the colour to dry and then it's clear coat time!
After that, I'll polish it and then assemble….

Agreed. Also, for future reference, what did you use to cut the pickguard?

Re: Strat / TB500 build

Haven't received the neck yet.
I am going a different direction with this guitar all together.
I will be using the original neck with a matching headstock until I receive a maple neck with black binding and black block inlays.
This will be the final neck for this guitar in particular.
the aluminium neck will go on a jazzmaster build later in the year!

Re: Strat / TB500 build
So I cut the rough shape with a dremel, however I did it poorly because I had lost my cutting bit.
I then proceeded to use a sanding drum drill attachment to get it closer to my shape.
I then hand sanded it all to its final shape and used a razor blade to get the beveled edge.
A lot of work but I think it's well worth it!

Ridiculously good for doing it all by (unguided) hand!
