So, people who have/had an Echo Dream 2 what's the verdict? Pros, cons, worth the money? I know lots of folks think it's way too much money for what you get. Anyways, thoughts?

I have it. Traded some stuff to obtain it so the perception of value for me is different. I love the thing. Delay is great and if I wanted, I could make some really weird sounds with just that. Fuzz is great. Delay never gets lost unless you wanted it to be lost. Modulation is fun and easy. Even the wild modulation seems usable and musical to my ear.


I'm always looking for a delay to try, so I wouldn't say I'll stay with this forever, but I do think it offers a large amount of fun, but if someone wanted to trade for the Meet Maude or the SS/BS, I'd do it. I've never fallen in love with a delay, just infatuation, that sometimes last longer than others.

Honestly, I do prefer the deluxe memory boy to it, just because of tap, but learning to live without it is fun. What are you curious about besides this delay?

i love my deluxe pitch pirate but have been wondering lately if there's something that could replace it

Definitely a different device. Pitch pirate's modulation is a little richer. The ed2 is a wee more whackd even in subtle settings. Both are whacky modulation expansions. Also, more delay time with the ed2, although it is noisy.

I think the pitch pirate shine is in the slapback. However, I've never touched one and am only speaking about how i would use it.

I'm real curious about the ghost delay.

Thanks for the info . Dunno man, I'm just possibly picking up a new delay and since I just got and am digging the Reverberation Machine I thought I'd have a look at the Echo Dream. I've had two El Cap's that I loved so I might end up with another

I've had my ED2 for six months and really enjoy it. In fact so much that I sold my DD-20 without a care in the world. It's less crazy than the first one, which tended to oscillate easily. The ED2's feedback knob is great for dialing it in with other pedals so that it's just on the brink of going into utter and total chaos. That can happen REALLY quickly, so for a live setting I would probaby get a KickDisk or something for the knob, just in case it went bananas. The echoes' deteriorating trails definitely have a distinct character that sets it apart from other delays, to the extent that I would almost say that I can hear it someone has been using the ED2 in a mix. I always have the fuzz set to max, but it's not because I'm cool like that, but because it's not really a heavy fuzz tone at all. That's the only let down for me. At noon you can hardly tell that your signal is being distorted. Not a deal breaker for me, as other fuzz pedals can take care of that bit. The pitch shifting modulation is fun to play around with, and the depth knob can really take you to La La Land. I will be getting a SS/BS NM though, but that's because stacking delays is omnom.

In this little clip you can hear the ED2 in the background. For most of it I'm just hitting the high E while tweaking the feedback and delay time knob. Fuzz is at max, delay at noon, fast sine modulation speed, and depth almost maxed out.

Man, for me the fuzz is very heavy and noticeable. Especially dime'd. Wonder if it's the setup or something they changed.

I'm running a strat with Fat 50's in neck paired with SD SSL-5 in bridge into a VOX AC30 (G12M Greenbacks).

I just tried maxing on both volume and fuzz, and the fuzz is there, of course. It's bloomy and full bodied, but it's not as crazy as one might expect from DBA. It's less of a Supersonic Fuzz Gun and more of a Big Muff with a metallic chime. I'm not saying that it's bad. It's first and foremost a delay pedal with modulation. It just happens to have a built in fuzz circuit, which I think is a great idea. I just wished it had more of a broken texture to it. Both the delay and modulation can go absolutely apeshit, so why not the fuzz? Again, most of us have fuzz pedals that can, so not really a problem. I bought mine full price and it was worth every penny.

Oh got it. I just started adding fuzz to my delay with the master down after talking about it. Love dirty delays.
