Not sure, but it's a clone of the old DOD filter.

I'd think low pass based on the tone. Speaker blowing low peaks from those things

Um so I literally just got into another band and I think I might need a filter. For bass

probably an envelope filter. Low budget, to be bought in september/october
the situation is that my friend recorded an album and then decided to get a live band and play the music live, too. I absolutely respect him as a musician and I'm seriously stoked that we jammed today and we really clicked. Anyway - the album has sort of an electronic-ish sound, we plan on putting a whole new spin on it live and do it more raunchy and rock-y, however, there are some places for nasty synthy bass sounds. My fuzzes are working really well in the band, but i might use some octave (planning to buy an OC-2 or an Octave Multiplexer at some point) and FAT filter. Doesn't have to necessarily do the crazy quack thing, i'd rather like to keep the envelope narrow and more focused on the low end.

basically thinking: EHX Micro Q-tron, the new DOD 440 or one of the old DOD FX25(b)s? Sort of a budget solution, don't need a whole bag of special functions, just looking for a fat analog filter that could bring some bubbly low end I guess :idk:

Is the Xero Deluxe too expensive for you?

Yeah, it really doesn't fit the description of a simple pedal on reasonable budget :( I know about it, I know what it can do and it's honestly a huge overkill for me

i mean it seems like an amazing pedal, but seriously... not for this gig :idk:

Maybe get something that does filter and octave together to save some money?
It's not easy to find a fat sounding envelope filter that works on bass and is affordable.
Try the Electro Harmonix Bass Micro Synth, Digitech Bass Synth Wah or Behringer BSY600 maybe.

Yeah, understandable, just checking to see if the Xero was an option. It's the one I have the most experience with.

Old DOD 440 or a clone?

Hard for me to get the old 440, they don't pop up much here. But I played the reissue of the 250 od and it was super sweet, so I have high expectations of the rest of the reissue line as well :) so the new DOD reissue of 440

The DOD 440 might be too squelchy no, especially on bass?
If this is what tickles your fancy you might also consider that cool little Green Zapper gizmo from Henretta, he's actually still having a sale right here on ILF:

yeah, would love if anyone could chime in about that RI business maybe :idk:

the 250 was so juicy and just RAW, i loved it. You step on it and it's just OOOOOOOOOOOMPH
so... anyone tried the new RI 440?

Tristan, I LITERALLY have no idea  haven't tried many filters, didn't have the best hand with the ones i have tried

Do you have any examples of the kind of sounds you're looking for?
That might help to give some idea which direction to go.
Oh, you really want an envelope filter right, because the DBA Kill Kill Filter is awesome for getting deep and heavy bass sounds in my experience.

couldn't think of any song which would describe it better than one of the actual songs I want it for  obviously I realize it's synth bass, but this is that sort of feel I want to have :idk:

edit: for lack of better term, it should sound sort of "dubby", deep with only slight filter opening when I really hit harder - if that makes sense
