I recently picked up a Fuzzbrite and while I like how it sounds, imho it only sounds good when my guitar's volume it turned down. I'm not really a fan of having to play with my volume knob all the time so was considering building some form of input attenuator into the pedal itself. That way I can leave my volume up, but the pedal will still sound good.
I've built a good few pedals but am not really up to speed on my electronics theory. Am I wrong in thinking that a potentiometer between the effect input (not the actual pedal input) and ground will give me what I want?
If you've ever seen the inside of a Fuzzbrite, you'll know it's pretty wild in terms of wiring etc, so I was just going to run the wires from the relevant points on the footswitch and use a small trimpot which I can stick to the inside of the enclosure. Will this actually work or am I missing something?
Thanks

Yep, that's all you gotta do. Effect send lug on the footswitch to the left most lug when looking down at the flat side of the pot, then middle lug to the actual effect (what would have originally gone to the footswitch), then the right most lug to ground!

he wants it to be part of the pedal and therefor only attenuate when the footswitch is engaged. volume pedal just won't do.

Spot on! Have actually kinda come to prefer the sound of the pedal (Ashbass Fuzzbrite) cranked but definitely going to include an input attenuator on some future diy builds.
