Re: IdiotBox Spring into 2014 tourbox actions & informations
Got a chance to play around a bit so here's a my initial impressions:
Blower Box: Really great and versatile straight-forward dirt machine. Tons of bass, but stays really clear in every setting I tried. Great for chords and leads! Doesn't really do low-gain, but I don't suppose that's the point. Sounds really good but a little vanilla for my tastes, especially since these days all I'm really using is light overdrive or all-out broken fuzz. Still, would be a good jackknife pedal to have in the box.
Dungeon Master: WOAH. Lows for days. I love how this thing holds "tight" chords together, but then scrambles things when you add other notes to the mix. I've been playing a lot in CGCGAC and those higher strings really bug it out! Reminds me a lot of a superfuzz. Is it based on a superfuzz? That low knob is so thick and fat -- definitely up there for the heaviest pedal I've ever played. I also had a lot of fun turning the bass all the way down and the treble all the way up to get this great lofi old radio sound. KILLER.
Dimension X: Really pretty repeats! Good tone and the wash builds up nicely behind what you're playing. Seems like there's not a lot of range on the echo pot? I hit nearly infinite feedback about 1 o'clock and runaway oscillation about 3. Not a bad thing I suppose since I typical run a delay right to the point of oscillation with the mix low for background textures. The modulation here is pretty tricky to get your head around since it takes over the time knob. Makes it hard to set a base sound and then kick the mod on for teh swirlies. Also wish there was a depth knob, but I get it that Matt was going for over the top.
Rainbowtron: You know, I really wanted to like this thing. Cool noises, but needs more controls to make it usable really. Add an lowpass filter with depth and res and then we'd be getting somewhere! I'm going to play with it some more and see if I can't coax something out of it. I know I can coax something out of it.

I meant to respond to your impressions earlier.
I pretty much agree with most of what you said, except I get some pretty nice low gain sounds from the Blower Box.
IIRC, I think the Dungeon Master is based on the HM-2.

Well, I've been playing so low gain that almost everything sounds heavier.
Box is boxed and will go out tomorrow!

Yeah, I like the Blower Box I've got, but some people like things small.
