Pedal Pops Loudly

I have been using the dirt channel on one of my amps, and am running a boost, delay, and Mooer Pitch Box in to the FX loop. The boost and delay are silent, but the Mooer pops loudly when engaged if it's been off for a while. Is this some type of static buildup or is the pedal just a POS?

Pedal pop is usually due to DC being present where it should not be in AC signal line. Are you running the pedals on batteries or external power? Just a thought.

And sometimes an active pedal's buffer early in the chain can cause other pedals further down the line to pop when engaged.

A guy I know with years of guitar experience wrote this:

A little known fact about the standard blue 3PDT switches is that, at moderately high volumes, the spring and the metal actuator contained within the switch can create phase-aligned sympathetic resonances, both sub-harmonic and super-harmonic. While you can't actually hear the dreaded "blue 3PDT resonance"-- a term coined in the early 1980s-- the frequencies do interact with frequencies in the audible range, resulting in unpredictable frequency cancellation.

This can be minimized during the switch manufacturing process by using a specific quantity and type of grease to lubricate the mechanical components of the switch. Unfortunately, near the end of the 1970s, international agreements were put in place that prohibited the use of that lubricant due to its high toxicity. A suitable substitute was found, however it is very heat-sensitive. Simply soldering the switch changes the viscosity of the lubricant, and that all but guarantees that you will experience the dreaded blue 3PDT resonance.

This is why I don't trust true bypass at all.
I don't think it's directly what's causing your issue, but I'm sure it's related.

They're on external power. The boost and delay are both buffered. I was reading that some pedals can leak AC power from the input/output capacitors, causing the next pedal in line to pop when engaged. I will try moving it before the delay and see if it still happens.

Might also want to run off some batteries just to take the power source out of the mix if you can.

If it happens just sometimes, I think it might be a buildup from a sketchy patch cable, too

i'm no expert, but I talked about it with a friend once, i think i remember that it's an issue with pancake connectors
