ATTN: Belle Epoch owners
So I was just informed about a cool feature that the manual doesn't mention and i've never heard of. It has to do with the mod knob and where you set it. The trick is to set it somewhere, then unplug the power cord from the unit and wait a sec and plug it back in. The modulation sounds are now different based on where the mod setting was set. Setting it all the way clockwise and unplugging it/plugging it back in yields some crazy modulations. Same goes for all along its range, new modulation sounds. I think catalinbread equates it to tape ageing but whatever, its hella cool new sounds from a great delay.
Have fun.

Is this one of their "Easter eggs"? I never would've discovered that one.

Heck it took me two weeks to find there was a trails switch inside. That kinda sucks they didn't mention this in the manual. Are they known for pulling this shit? Ive got a tremolo of theirs that I'd love to know any secrets about.Holy Schnikes wrote:Is this one of their "Easter eggs"? I never would've discovered that one.

They are known for it on recent delay releases at least. The Echorec has a hidden fuzz setting when you max internal gain. They noted a hidden setting on the Belle Epoch as well but wouldn't spill the beans. A few big threads on TGP awhile back about it.

You can up the gain on the Belle Epoch to fuzz levels, too. The buffered/non-buffered switch controls trails and if the preamp colors your sound when the pedal is off.
One note on using buffered mode: if you leave it in a fairly extreme setting, it will make an awful sound come out of your amplifier. Since the pedal will appear to be off, it can take an inordinate amount of time to find out why your amp is feeding back so viciously.

This. I kicked my pedal board playing live and knocked the belle into self-oscillation (even though it was off). In the heat of the show I didn't figure that out (I didn't know it could happen), and just ripped my board apart on stage and just used a distortion. Lesson learned.chuckjaywalk wrote:You can up the gain on the Belle Epoch to fuzz levels, too. I am so glad to hear that I'm not the only one. I've gotten in the habit of turning the first knob all the way down when I'm done playing to avoid such a thing in the future. It was ear-splitting even at zero volume.grygrx wrote:This. I kicked my pedal board playing live and knocked the belle into self-oscillation (even though it was off). Put it in buffered mode, turn the first knob to around 3 o'clock, and turn on your amp. Instant shoegaze, whether you plug your guitar in or not.

Pedal Easter eggs? Cool!
Surprise feature creates modulated noise? COOL!
Out-of-nowhere runaway ear-splitting feedback? Not so cool.
