I am super bummed that I don't have the dough for it... one day though I'll order a new one.

Re: I want a Science Amplifier
That guy has two amps for sale in the Seattle area. I just went through that Hellhawk recently (those mods mentioned in the ad were done by me by the way, and the FX loop is one of the Zero-loss modules) and it's in very good condition. The Street Sweeper is almost new as well. He got laid off from his tech job so had to sell a bunch of gear. I feel bad for him because he had just gotten the Street Sweeper and the amps are still relatively unknown so harder to sell locally than say a Dr. Z or something.

I feel bad for the guy. If I had the cash I would jump on it.Science Amps wrote:That guy has two amps for sale in the Seattle area. Re: I want a Science Amplifier
It used to be the case that, even here in Ireland with its much smaller population and less experience with 'boutique' gear, you could invest in basically anything that caught your eye and take a chance knowing that if you decided to sell it on you'd only lose 30% of what you paid. Nowadays, although people still have money, they don't have as much and therefore only invest in 'trusted' gear, or more accurately something that will hold its value. That's partly why imported Japanese gear has risen in value so much. It's affordable quality that is easy to sell if worst comes to worst. That's why I'm holding off on buying from smaller guys any more. If I bought a Verellen, for instance, and it wasn't what I wanted or I couldn't afford to keep it a year from now, I would lose 50-60% of what I paid, and it might take six months to sell. So unfortunately, although it's not what I want, I've been forced to buy second-hand gear that retains its value more securely from companies that everyone wants. Pedals are a safe investment because they're so small, consistent and low in cost compared to a guitar or amplifier, but guitars and amps are a huge gamble. Not so much in the States, but over here? Definitely.Science Amps wrote:That guy has two amps for sale in the Seattle area. I have been eyeing that Hellhawk for a while, but can't justify another amp I can't turn up past 1. I'm sure it kills.Science Amps wrote:That guy has two amps for sale in the Seattle area.
