What amp?

A 4x12 is a must, 2 4x12 cabs is perfect.

2x12 would be fine... smaller cab = easier to move around, especially since you'll have to move the head as well.
i've got a fender PA 100 head (essentially a twin...) that i use with an avatar 2x12 cab and it's great...

How come you're going for 100W Tube head? Just thinking that perhaps going for a 50 and buying better cabs might be wiser but then again I don't know what tone you're set on or well your overall plan.

Sorry yeah a 2x12 would be fine and easier to transport I just love giant amps, and getting a 2x12 could leave to add on cabs as needed or wanted in the future.

Most likely this will lead to a very harsh and brittle sound. PA speakers are full range, while guitar speakers cut high frequencies (on purpose, in a positive way). You'd need a speaker simulator if you want the typical sound of guitar cabinet. Furthermore, you have to check the impedance (must match the head).
I would stick to guitar cab speakers :thumb:
