The Math Rock Thread
After some discussion in the "post your top 10 albums lounge" thread some people including me wanted a math rock thread, so here it goes!
What are your favourite bands? Namedrop, make lists and post links and videos!
What are the best/the classic math rock albums according to you?
The different styles of math rock. Do you have any preferences?
Examples: proggy, metal/harder, poppy, post-rockish, indie-rockish, emo, electronic, instrumental, with vocals etc.
Any shows coming up in your town/country?
Other opinions about the genre or the name of the genre or something?
Some typical bands to start this of:
Hella - Biblical Violence (live)

Don Caballero - Details on how to get ICEMAN on your license plate

Toe - Kodoku No Hatsumei (live)

Maps & Atlases - Artichokes (live)

Slint - Good Morning, Captain

Hella's first album is really cool, as is Spiderland. Polvo is cool. I see Albini get linked to Math Rock, and all his bands are rad.

Lynx is great! Haven't seen live videos of them before. Nice.
Gotta mention Battles of course. With members from Lynx, Don Caballero and Helmet for those not familiar.

I'm a major Ian Williams fan. Easily my favourite guitarist.
My latest addiction, Breadwinner:

My favourite math-rocky band right now is Three Trapped Tigers.

Their tunes are so GOOD and they're absolutely killer live.

Re: The Math Rock Thread
oh god i don't even know where to start
i spent most of high school following math rock blogs and have hundreds of bands that fit this bill
imo the last few years have been a bit rubbish in terms of it becoming trendy and a lot of bands that stick to boring formulas being dubbed as 'math rock' but i guess that's inevitable
along with early tera melos these three are probably my favourite modern math rock bands

Re: The Math Rock Thread
I'm not really sure what the rules are for math rock. If you can't dance to it I count it. Saw Breadwinner up the thread so logically,
