So I picked up an Allparts maple neck, vintage tint, a few months ago and was going to grab an OLY White body with black binding from the same shop but noticed the Red with binding body on sale on the Allparts site, so I ordered one through my local dealer thinking it'd be CAR like the Allparts site but it arrived today and...
Fiesta! I'm not actually complaining. I was seriously considering canceling my order and going MJT but this colour looks so nice in person! Moving on...
I've started goofing around with some unusual ideas for a build. Here's what I have so far:
1-ply black guard
Seymour Duncan Antiquity Firebird neck, Little 59 tele in bridge
mini-toggle for coil split on the bridge
4-way blade for b/bn/n/series
2 middle pups - Lollar Goldfoil closest to neck, Duncan Lipstick cloest to bridge
Have an additional tele-bass plate below the standard tele one (vol/tone/3-way toggle) to control the middle pups
3-way switch to select between the 2 sets of pups
Varitone (either lower horn or up where an LP toggle would be)
Bass finger rest
Currently have a set of white button Gotoh tuners but am considering using Keith banjo d-tuners (I have 2, get 2 more, plus 2 standard banjo tuners) so I have quick access to 4 different tunings (Standard, Open G, Open D, Drop D)
B-bender
Bottle opener (kidding/not kidding)
Anywho.... I'm thinking the wiring scheme on this thing is going to be the death of it so any thoughts on whether what I'm thinking about is even possible? Suggestions? Criticisms? Eh? EH?
I can see no reason why it wouldn't be possible, although it'll certainly take a bit of figuring out to do that wiring. The other part of it is routing the body as required. It might be an idea to try and do a mockup if possible with where all the pieces are going to go?
Definitely should go for the banjo d-tuners, great idea
As for the bottle opener, I'd try and attach it to the lower strap button somehow!
