Kick to the NADs, Cheap-Ass Stoner Rig

Post by Rob Fossil »

The mailman delivered a late 70's Yamaha B100 amp head today. I've been looking for a cheap amp head to pair with my Randall 2x15, a good clean platform for pedals than sounds good with guitar and bass. I'll be playing mostly stoner rock through the rig, so I figured a bass head was the way to go.

The amp sounds pretty good for a solid state head and it came with a Roland single button footswitch to control the distortion (which is surprisingly usable). So overall, the head and cab cost under $325 including shipping. I'll have no problem leaving it at a practice space or if it takes abuse from gigging.

I have no Randall knowledge what so ever, but have had my ears rung by SS yamaha's on more than one occasion.

Cheap rigs + 2x15 = rule.

The Randall cab really brings the lows & shakes the house! The guy I got it from upgraded the speakers, he told me what they were when I bought it a while back but I have since forgot and the cab is sealed so I don't feel like tearing it apart. It'll get the job done and then some.

I bought one of these amp heads in used when I worked sales at Guitar Center. Doomy as fuck. I loved it.
