+Fucking destroys certain chords.
+Sounds awesome when you play random combinations of shit high up on the fretboard and send toanz crashing into each other. The best.
+Awesome build.

-I thought the no-mids mode is pretty useless except for abrasive textures and really high-pitched notes.
-Gets less articulate as tempo increases.
-Doesn't like dirt being run into it.

~Playing it on any less than 100% on both controls makes you a bitch.

I'm honestly hoping this will finally kick my Octophant off my board.

Yeah, I'm tempted to get one, just cause of the wooden side panels alone:p
As good an excuse as any as far as I'm concerned, I've bought pedals for worse reasons:p

Seriously though, I sorta have a question, if noone minds me hijacking the thread for a sec. Does anyone know if my current board can do a similar thing? I mean, I don't want the spider to cover too much of the same ground as what I already have. FZ-2, Fuzz God II, Mastotron, Swollen Pickle...? $200 is way more than what I usually spend on my fuzz peddles, and they don't easily pop up on the used market here, so I won't just be ordering one sight unseen, sollyy based on a couple of onine reviews/demos...At least not without the blessing of my fellow fuzz geeks here

I'll let you know when I get it. If it ends up not working for me I'll PM you about it. I think it'd be a nice addition to your fuzz, but it might kick your FZ-2 off

Yes!!

Baltimore isn't too far from me so I should probably have it by the weekend, Monday at the latest.

I would say the Big Spider is a lot more organic sounding......as in, it doesn't sound as metallic and digital as the FZ2. :joy:

I actually always thought my cheap fz2 would be the least likely to get ditched/replaced. Not too civilised with complex chords, but it cuts through a mix a lot better than the swollen pickle or fuzz god II can. It's like an angrier and more versatile version of a superfuzz to me. I can see why it's not for everyone, but I wouldnt at all call it digital sounding personally. Anyway, drop me a line when youve put yer new spider through its paces, lemme know what you think about it.

I will for sure. I'm going to do some REAL fuzz tweaking this weekend while recording.

NYC Big Muff (jumpered the emitters, sounds gnarly and huge)
V5 Op Amp Muff
Octophant
Keeley Fuzzhead Clone
Verellen Big Spider

I currently have both muffs and the octophant on my board, but I'm thinking about replacing the op amp and octophant with the verellen. I love the op amp, but I don't want anything happening to it.

EDIT: I really miss having my Effector 13 Vintage Fuzz MAKER. There's something SERIOUSLY wrong with it. I'll prolly take some pics and make a new thread.
