Re: Sitting
I use an Ikea children's stool.
It was super cheap, it's nice and low to the ground for easy knob twiddling, and it's surprisingly sturdy. I weigh a bit over 200 pounds and I've been using this stool for three or four years now.

I read a study about this chair. Apparently, it increases your playing ability by almost 7.5%.EvilCatBucky wrote:I saw this in a catalog the other day and wondered "who's actually buying those?"

I have a chair almost identical to that, but with arms, that we bought when we had a baby. When he was smaller, it put him right to sleep.Ugly Nora wrote:I read a study about this chair. Re: Sitting
I just picked one of these up for my wife, for when she plays her bass: Link. It is in transit now.
At only 24", it is shorter than most stools that I have seen, which is good because my wife is only 5' tall. Solid beech wood construction, too (the stool, not my wife, who is real... I promise).

If you're into percussion too, get a cajon. that's what I use.

Small footprint, sturdy, quiet, no moving parts.
I have the Fat Congas Bajo Sexto (above). The Meinl ones are fun too. GC has them. Seen them as low as $90.
I recommend one with a snare inside. They're louder.

Re: Sitting
I always sit while playing. Bass weight gets to my back after so many years of playing. I use a stool I bought on sale at guitar center.works perfect.

I just use my desk chair (simple and low without arms) but I've been thinking about a cheap drum throne.

Re: Sitting
I have a couch in my record/music room. It's hella legit. I got it from my wife's grandmother. Unfortunately the dog sleeps on it a lot during the day so this is the only pic I have that I took from my tumblr because it's covered in dog hair and I'd rather not think about the fact that I need to vacuum it.......

Re: Sitting
I have one of those generic cafe style metal stools to jam at home with. The shorter legged variety.
Probably not the best if you worried about your back but I dig it.
I second sitting on a combo. My orange 2x12 cab also doubles as a bench sometimes.

I think stools can help with your posture...or hurt it as well. Have to make it a point to sit up straight'ish haha.
