Very cool. Like I said I wasn't saying he would get the same results as I did, just recalling a time when I did that.

It's kinda sad how many of my musical endeavors involved home depot.

I tend dot get a lot of "what are you trying to do?"

AND THEN A BLANK STARE OF Whaaaaaaa? when I tell them.

I remember seeing an advertisement for some young guy in the US who invented a "drum spike" that stopped the kit moving and was guaranteed to work!
Can't remember the name though

Nothing like a full studio-mic'd kit.

Nice Tamas man! I like the weights through the mic stands. Sweet idea.

I can't wait to record something with the new kit. The bass drum is so much more pronounced than any of my other kits.

thanks guys :thumb:

my kit + the live room at work = tone boners

we've got a great homemade reverb trick there too that makes the kit sound f*cking massive and i love it.

i normally play the 4-piece set up of my kit, but i've got another rack tom that I like to use for my thrash band.
tamas tune so well and when you hit em' hard, they sound perfect.

now i want to play moar drums!

Got to play a fun show last night with Ex-Gods and C.F.A.

I seem to be addicted to last minute gear changes right before a show and this time was no different. I swapped out the front stock Ludwig head with an Ambassador head. I added a felt strip and smaller Ludwig decal.. well, I let John slap the logo on so I could blame him is it didn't go well. I also got a new snare stand for my rack tom. Now I have the rack tom fairly high, where I like it. The bass drum break kept the bass drum securely in place for the set.

I'm not a drummer but I just bought a practice space kit for jamming with whoever, so people dont use/break my drummers kit. I may start sitting down and banging on them too.

Image
Not me, the drummer for my new band Galactic Hatchet, I basically bought the drums for him to use.

I don't know much about drums and had a buddy at my local MGR help me pick stuff out.
-Extra mojo'd Slingerland 3 piece...24 kick, 16 floor, 15 rack
-Some off brand, US made, all maple ,14x8 snare that according to my buddy is a sleeper, and it is, fucker cuts through everything.
-14" Sabian hi hat
-20" old HEAVY AS FUCK Zildjian ride, rings forever!
-All stands were the cheapest sturdiest ones we could find.
-And my buddy threw in replacement skins for the kick and rack tom because those are in pretty bad shape.

Got all this for trading a Windsor halfstack with 8 Jensen Mod50s, 4 of them in the cab, plus $300 out of pocket. I think I got a great deal. The kit sounds pretty good already, can't wait to get those replacement skins on them. I'm thinking I'll want a bigger ride and use the 20" I have now as a crash, in the future. Oh and a cowbell.

Also heres my drummer for VEGAs kit, honestly best sounding kit I've ever heard...

Image

Ludwig 4 piece, Bonham sizes
Matching snare, I think 14x6.5
Reverend Als Big 24" ride
18" and 19" paiste crashes
15" zildjian hi hat
I know he has some Remo and Aquarian heads.
Rev. DOOM, The Dude of DOOM, DOOMER, El DOOMerino, if you're not into the whole brevity thing...

This may have been covered already, but what sticks do folks here prefer? Our drummer Zach uses Pro Mark Hickory 5b, but goes through 'em like crazy. I know that's part of the fun (read:cost) of playing doom drums, but anyone have suggestions for sticks with similar profiles that last longer?
