Re: Fairfield is working on something new!!!
Here's what happens with strat directly into MM, guitar volume on 8. MM settings: feedback 10:00, tone max, mix noon, compression 1. Pick lightly and almost nothing happens, then strike a chord and the repeats will blow the roof off. You can hear the microphone input clipping on the peaks.sylnau wrote:On the bass side of the tone yes.bogdan101 wrote:Got no. 023 yesterday, very nice; it seems to like a fairly hot input. If I just plug in the strat directly with the volume rolled down a bit, the gate in the wet signal path basically kills the signal and I get no repeats. If I put a boost in front, no problems. Does your Maude behave like this too?
Btw, first post; nice to be here.
Add some treble and it react normal.
Will listen to those clip tonight!

Yes, you should get an automatic notification from Canada Post.

SO maybe I'm just stupid when it comes to delays, but what's so good about this one versus other ones? It sounds awesome, I'm just curious what people think.

I'm still waiting to receive mine, but I was interested because it had a built-in compressor, fx loop, tone knob, cv control, and cool random modulation

Re: Fairfield is working on something new!!!
Got mine. Sounds awesome and very very unique. Super dark, lush, rhythmic, great for atmospheric sounds. The compressor is cool, kinda cleans/brightens repeats up. Mod flutter is esp cool too, not something I'm usually a fan of but well done here. Controls are very interactive and results vary with input signal so it takes a bit to fully grasp what appears to be a simple control set
And I haven't even messed with CV/Exp yet.
For an analogue delay it's exceptionally quiet, no hiss/hum/white noise at all really. There is some slight whistling at longer delay times, 7-10 o'clock on the time knob but nothing you can hear when actually playing. Tone adjustment can relieve it as well. I read on TGP that exp sweep on the time can be a little glitchy and weird like some of the sweep is inactive. Haven't messed with this tho.
I bet a synth thru this thing would sound incredible, must try.

I was just about to post pretty much this exact same thing, minus the part about slight whistling, I haven't noticed that.Holy Schnikes wrote:Got mine. Sounds awesome and very very unique. I'm really enjoying mine and really need to plug it into the Drone Commander

Re: Fairfield is working on something new!!!
The whistling is truly very slight. Saw it mentioned a couple times (again on TGP) and one guy used the tone knob to eliminate which works for me too. It could very well be rig/guitar-dependent too. I have some Strymon buffers going and a ton of pedals that may contribute, who knows, I'll mess around with placement eventually.
That's no gripe tho, this thing is killer! I've never owned another delay that sounds and reacts like Maude.

I'm still in love with Maude.
It's the first delay that I've tried that is dynamic.
When you play light almost no repeate then you play harder and the magic arrive!!!
Havent mess with the CV or the loop yet.

Re: Fairfield is working on something new!!!
I agree syl, very dynamic indeed.
Anyone digging this should try the Cbread Echorec too if you haven't. That's not to say they're way similar (obviously as the Echorec is digital and based on the Binson) but they share some great characteristics like the dynamic and rhythmic repeats and overall lush atmospheric sounds. Two of the coolest delays I've heard in a long while.

Re: Fairfield is working on something new!!!
Yeah I've never played a dynamic delay before. It's really awesome!
The Echorec has always been on my radar though, and the Belle Epoch.
Also I love how the feedback responds on the Maude. Even at maxed feedback it sounds amazing. Most other delays I've played always turn into high pitched squealing with max feedback, which I don't really enjoy.
And the random mod is just perfect!
How does the effects loop actually work? Need some kind of y cable? Or am I being dense and missing something?

Re: Fairfield is working on something new!!!
The Belle Epoch is def cool, sounds really nice with small footprint but I could almost replicate it with other delays I own. The Echorec is totally unique tho. All those head playback modes act like different pattern delays almost. The swell and tone really change things up as well. Oh, the 9-18V option is nice too, let's you add a lot more clean headroom if desired.MrNovember wrote:Yeah I've never played a dynamic delay before. It's really awesome!

But back to the MM, I'm not sure on the loop connections either...

You need to refer to the guide for the dip switch.
And I think you will need an Y cable.
I have one here so I'l try it later this week and let you know.

Would you compare this to any other delay out there or does it kind of stand on it's own? I'm just trying to see if it's a good fit for me. I love my ILFDD, but it only seems to do a certain type of delay sound, and I'm looking for something more organic sounding than my H9 can produce.
I think, I have a gear purchasing problem. I'm kind of a whore.
