if you can find a used Line 6 FM4 for cheap that would be my highest recommendation. so many shitty glitchy ridiculous sounds that just cut through the mix and sound cool as fuck.

also the digitech synth wah and boss SYB-3 do some sick triggered synthy noises and are usually pretty cheap.

also any flanger that gets really resonant will usually make cool noises. or just use a feedback looper of course.

Definitely. I had one as one of my first pedals, than sold it, but bought a new one recently for €100. I think it is very hard to beat for that price. Glitchy synth modes, wacky filters,... It does take a lot of space on a pedalboard though.

The line 6 is a great pedal. Wish it was polyphonic.....and smaller

the line 6 is definitely huge, but for me seeing as i somewhat regularly use all 4 footswitches its kinda reasonable. as long as i need wacky synth sounds it will be on my board.
strangely i tried the same filters models on the M5 and they sounded COMPLETELY different, like they don't really glitch or self oscillate or do weird shit. so disappointing.

I would check out a ring mod pedal, delays that oscillate are obvious choices too

anything phase locked loop based would be worth checking out as well. Been messing with a couple and holy crap they eat time and are full of sci fi wonders.
