Tube testers were never cheap, they're not something that the average musician *needs* - in an era of easily matched/priced sets from vendors, you'd have to buy a lot of them to justify having.

If you were flipping tubes or buying lots of cheapies to match them yourself and sell them, etc. it makes sense although I'd just buy a vintage tester that offers more data.

But the truth is that back in the day, we didn't sit there matching tubes or sweating bullets. They were like light bulbs - when they'd burn out, we'd swap in another one and be done with it. No worry, no hassle, NBD.
